Hi Johnb80 it is a good suggestion that you have put forward but it only applies to owners who did not take advantage of this hack in March 24.
As it stands if you were to renew now that would delay your road tax payment for 6 months only and RFL payment would be due 1st October 25
For the likes...

Well I can’t agree on that point they are not cheap cars nowadays and many other manufacturers have very similar prices but there cars work on all chargers including Tesla.
I have said previously in other similar threads here on this subject MG motors have no right to tell owners what charging...
I don’t think many policy do include new for old but the right level of GAP insurance can but beware of buying from your dealer they can be expensive that way so have a look on line there are many far cheaper than a dealer would be able to offer you.

I stand corrected you are correct thanks,
I did the re registration thing a few months back for my 5 so it is ok until march 2026 I think if that hack works of course.

I have recently been weighing up a Tesla model Y a steal at the moment at £299pm with 4 grand down payment but the insurance and the current value of my MG5 Trophy has made me think again. I ran a few quotes for insurance which where in the 16.5-17 hundred pounds ball park and around an 18 grand...
Yes I was just about to write try a different charger if possible so I agree.
Ben solar is the car set for a maximum charge in the charging screen as you can on the facelifted trophy adjust how much you charge to and also discharge to, so just check it is set to the long trip mode

This is strange I have a Zappi and solar PV and an MG5 FL and have never had any issues like this, I’m sure you know this but, the Zappi there are 3 settings you can use to charge on the car,
Fast, gives you a constant 7-7.4 kW from the grid,
Eco + always gives you around 1.4 kW from the grid...
The most important check that needs to be carried out on any vehicle is the state of your tyres and this includes pressures.
The reasons for this are,
Safety
Economy/running cost
Ride comfort
From the safety point the tyre is the only thing keeping the vehicle onto the road and its pressure...
After all the different posts in various threads on this forum about insurance this is something all here should watch and sign on to in my honest opinion to ensure he gets the votes he needs the go forward I have already done so.
It may be a waste of time but at least worth a go.

Tom that is probably true but if it’s working that would be easy to copy my wife’s 4 SE was fitted with a brand new undertray several months back now and it was as bad if not worse than the original one that came with the car

Yes it certainly will and it the wipers are off the screen at the time they might damage the edge of the bonnet.
So if you don’t need to do not put them that in the service position that would be fine but point out they must not lift the wipers off the screen while they are in the park position...
