It's really interesting how different the cars seem to be. Mine always starts charging right away, wherever I plug it in (AC or DC - no difference). It doesn't matter if it's turned on or off, it just begins charging.
It might be a simple one, but it's not the customers' job to do. It might even complicate further claims or warranties - but MG doesn't seem to be very approachable in those matters anyway.
I can wholeheartedly recommend Michelin Cross Climates. They are silent (which is a requirement on EVs to my mind) and competent even on snow. I've had them mounted on three different cars now, they never failed to impress.
Alright, hypermiling today. Was able to wring 400 km (250 miles) out of it. Just landed home with 1% SoC and a massive power restriction in the end. It was exciting. ?
Energy consumption was 14,8 kWh/100km which converts to 4.2 miles/kWh. Basically this is nice, but I'm not entirely happy...
Used EV prices are dropping. Tesla has lowered the prices of their new vehicles twice now.
But MG has increased the price of the MG4 in Germany by around 2000 EUR right now. The Luxury/Trophy model is 40k now. I wonder if this will work out.
I do have great respect for what you did and indeed it's a shame MG can't come up with a solution themselves (in some cases tbh).
But a DIY fix (as brillant as it is) is not an option for me. I can't and won't fiddle with the car. This is not my job.
I will give MG every opportunity required...
I can live with all the software issues (of which there are still many). Fortunately I already have an appointment for those issues, so I can bring the car in soon.
But the oil leak I'm not going to put up with. It makes the car illegal to drive and it won't pass the German MOT. Above, I'm just...
I had the modified breather fitted in January and discovered a new spot on the driveway today. The plastic cover underneath the drive unit is generously covered in oil. Now that's great, I thought it was solved. I'm considering to threaten them to buy it back if they fail to fix it again. I'm...
Some manufacturers seem to care less than the others.
