VOICE COMMANDS MG ZS EV TROPHY 2024

@Derek B As I said above, if we don’t have it, we don’t have it!!

VOICE COMMANDS MG ZS EV TROPHY 2024

The earlier Trophy model was not equipped with the voice commands. It’s not something that can be ‘updated’ or ‘upgraded’. If I had wanted that ability, I would have bought the ‘Connect’ version, but it just wasn’t important to me, and not worth the extra cost.

VOICE COMMANDS MG ZS EV TROPHY 2024

Is that the later Trophy? I have a 2022 Trophy, and voice commands were then only on the Trophy Connect version. I know that MG decided to remove the ‘Connect’ name, together with the sunroof, but enabled voice commands.

    Advice needed - used model

I have a 2022 Trophy, standard range. I haven’t had any issues with it. I didn’t want to pay extra for the ‘connect’ version, as I have a Spotify subscription. I just wanted heated seats and a sunroof. The app means that you can preheat the car - so lovely in the winter time, and check its...

Need a charging cable MG5 to an external rapid charging station

@DB Go Rex I know what you mean, but there’s nothing to stop one from going back to another supplier, if things go wrong.

Need a charging cable MG5 to an external rapid charging station

No, I was with Octopus, which I think is currently 8p - still great, especially if you can load shift dishwasher/washing machine etc., to take advantage. I am now with Tomato Energy, which is an electricity only supplier. There are also a couple of 60/90 minute periods where the charge is...

Need a charging cable MG5 to an external rapid charging station

@Everest Compared to ICE fuelling, you are right! However, I have had to use a public charger less than a handful of times over the 2 years I have had my car, and ‘filling’ my battery at home, overnight, takes no time at all, (and currently only 5p per kWh). The times I have topped up at a...

Need a charging cable MG5 to an external rapid charging station

The terminology is confusing when new to EV’s Fast is slow(ish) and Rapid is very fast!! I think the Aussies have the right idea, by just using the terms AC or DC and as @Jomarkh states above.

    CarPlay dongle

@Jto The way I do is to sit in the car with my phone, and the car on ‘accessories’ (if I’m not planning on going anywhere), so that the CarPlay dongle is on. Then go onto the website on my phone as stated, the Carlinkit page comes up, and there should be the settings thingy in the corner -...

    CarPlay dongle

@Jto When you go onto the website 192.168.50.2 can you ‘see’ your Carlinkit? Has the settings page disappeared altogether, or is it just the ‘delay start’ bit that you don’t have?

    CarPlay dongle

I have the 3. I don’t think there was another version out when I bought mine. I’ve had it quite a few years now, and since it worked perfectly in my previous car, I saw no need to upgrade. I’m the only user, so only need the one which works with iPhones.

@peterseddon Thanks! You can tell I know nothing……..

    Issues with New MGZSEV

The only things I have had, were the occasional ‘forward collision system unavailable’, when (I think) bright sunshine comes on the front radar. As it happens at the same place on a regular route I take, I can safely ignore it. And, the windscreen creak. Especially at the moment, as it’s very...

Finally cracked the wireless carplay dongle problems

I don’t unplug my Carlinkit from the car to update it. Just log into the webpage on my phone when the car is at least on ‘accessories’. Works fine for me.

    Choose your colour carefully

I loved the look of the red, but the extra cost and the possible difficulty of paint matching definitely put me off. I chose silver - a bit boring, but it doesn’t show the dirt much.

    Wheel covers

@Mickandsej I find the plastic wheel covers are a breeze to clean, and since I can’t see the alloys underneath, I don’t bother with cleaning them. I bought a spare wheel, complete with tools (all unused) from a forum member, as I didn’t want to ever use the ‘gunk’ that came with the car...

    Wheel covers

As @profdraper said, it’s a knack, and I do it exactly as described. I bought myself a pair of thick working gloves, and can remove my wheel covers without too much difficulty. Changing the wheel would be a different story - I would leave that to the breakdown service, as I wouldn’t know where...

    First charging glitch

@Jamesrr Yes, I should have clarified that these are the terms generally used in the UK, and it would be far simpler to say ‘fast’, ‘slow’ and tortoise! It’s a bit like LR v SR - I have heard people say Short Range when it’s actually Standard Range, and don’t get me started on sizes in coffee...

    First charging glitch

Sorry to be pedantic, but ‘fast’ charging is any AC charging, ie. your home EVSE, or a public charger where you use your own cable. DC charging, where the cable is permanently attached to the charging equipment, is called ‘rapid’ charging. Please don’t be offended (I’m certainly not an...
