    Octopus Electric Universe

I have one single card that works at every single petrol station, every supermarket and almost every single shop. I just wonder why I can't simply use that at every single charging point.

    Guidance with my wife

I share your pain. A good many years back I was loading the car for a tip run. Had my phone in my hand and no pocket handy, so I popped it on top of the box of junk. And forgot to take it out. Got home and realised I no longer had a phone. Somewhere there's a Treo 650 (it WAS a long while...

Yeah, I know. Mind you, dull often = affordable. That's probaay why the ID Buzz is £50k. I want one but can't afford it.

Agreed, and I do make an over-the-odds contribution to my son if we stay with him and charge there. Similarly I at least make the offer if we stay and charge elsewhere, but that's currently very rare, in that it has arisen only once in 2 years. The complication with reading meters is of course...

Yup. Connectors are suitably rated. The plug and line socket have both been in use for some time (with very careful monitoring, especially at the first few uses) with nothing untoward. The wiring to both was undisturbed, as I just cut the able and inserted the monitor box.

Yes. The heavy mains cable had to be cut anyway, to pass into, and out of, the two cable entries. It was then stripped back. The live conductor was put through the current transformer and joined with a suitable connector, whicl also allowed me to connect the live feed to the meter. The neutral...

    Free home charging point ?

I went to retire in 2017. It was all nicely lined up until a nice lady from HR told me they were having trouble recruiting me MK2 and would I think about staying on "even if it's part time"? Had a word with SWMBO and we figured it might be advantageous so I went for 3 days a week, with a...

Well, the meter arrived jolly quickly and I happened across a nice weatherproof box at my local Screwfix when I went there on another mission. The meter mounted into a cutout in the lid. There was plenty of room inside for cable management, terminations and the current transformer. There's a...

MG5 vs Skoda Enyaq - three in the back

Were I made of money it'd be a VW ID Buzz. Were i made of even more money I might consider a turbo nutter bastard version of a Tesla Model X on the 7 seat version.

Loads of info out there: Linky Huge words of warning though. You MUST understand PRECISELY what you are doing. You will be dealing with maybe 400V dc or more batteries, chargers capable of supplying 800V dc and currents of hundreds of amps. Get it wrong and you die. It's that simple.

Change driver console display to show celcius instead of farenheit

That's a lot of money to have tied up on the shelf. Y'know what'd be REALLY nice? The ability to rip and replace the Infotainment unit with something faster and maybe on a stock Android base.

Bit of reassurance for the MG5

Just get it, get in it, drive it like you stole it and enjoy it. Then start being sensible (ish) Oh, and have at least a skim through the manual.
