Pay as you drive is coming I think….

That £40k ceiling needs to change (or perhaps that’s how it was planned anyway to recoup lost revenue). It’s too low now - it was designed as an expensive car supplement but many many EV’s easily exceed £40k without really being ‘prestige or “expensive” cars’.
I’m always reluctant to spend a lot of money on a car and get zero discount - just doesn’t sit well with me.
A car with a lot of hype at launch like the Cyberster I guess falls into this category.
I wonder what used Cybersters will be going for in 12 Months time?
Good condition fully working 7kW tethered Pod Point Solo charger. I have just had it replaced with a solar model. Midlands area. Looking for around £200. Thanks!
Some cities seem to allow driving in bus lanes 24/7 for EV’s. Not sure how widespread this is.
Of course all users can drive in the bus lane outside limited times - if it is a bus lane that has these time limitations on the sign. Although most users don’t know this.
Does your area allow EV’s...
The irony is that once you are on the OIG tariff you can charge any EV and also use the cheaper tariff window - just turn off the Octopus devices in the app and use scheduled charging on your car or wall box…
Just a quick update. I obtained a small reduction in premium when I called my current Insurer and I decided to go with them for the car cover only.
I also looked at add-ons for the policy and removed these. By getting alternative quotes I got these reduced too. For example I got £500 policy XS...
Interesting points. You’ll find that your policy is with Highway Insurance, whose brand is owned by LV.
The car insurance revolution that Direct Line Insurance started in the 90’s was all about cutting out the middle man (brokers) and going direct, and it had a profound effect on the market...
I doubt if the traditional ‘broker’ has access to more insurers than the aggregators on the internet. That’s why their numbers dwindled. The LV policy mentioned through a broker will be available online direct from LV, and I’m pretty sure that the cost will not be cheaper by using a broker.
There are many more vagaries within car insurance terms and conditions. You point out a few good ones. The ‘main driver’ condition is mostly ill defined and even harder to enforce.
I’m afraid we are heading for a future where every mile is tracked and logged by the insurer - even getting to the...
Obviously it’s impossible to compare premiums when almost everyone has a different profile of risk/car/postcode/age/convictions/claims etc etc. what is clear is that premiums have increased significantly for many motorists and a lot of insurers seem to be more selective on the type of car and...
