How to tell which battery is in my MG5

My car is a pre-facelift registered in the UK in April 2022, but has this sticker: On your interpretation of 174Ah that gives 61.3kWh at the lower voltage of 350v that is used on the LR. You really need the same picture from a SR - can someone grovel under their car just behind the N/S front...

My MG5 EV Sr from 2020 doesn't charge to 100%

Clearly something has gone wrong. What does your home charger report now if you view it when the charging stops?

Write to MG and complain. Ultimately they need to change.

Is the % charge the actual battery size or usable size?

Of the usable 57kWh. You can go all the way from 100% to 0% but not into the buffers.

My MG5 EV Sr from 2020 doesn't charge to 100%

Are those the maximum charge achieved on the Rapid chargers or on your home Wallbox? When did you last charge to 100% and allow the car to do a full balancing charge?

How to tell which battery is in my MG5

The consumption figures are equivalent to 2.7 miles/kWh which isn't great, but it's not clear whether that was from 100% to 17% or from a lower starting %. Certainly taken on the GOM reading or assuming starting at 100% would imply a < 50kWh battery. Where did you take that picture from? Front...

Whats everyone's thoughts on the negative ev press ?

Part of the issue has been the buy now pay later culture developed over the past few years is beginning to unwind. People got used to being able to buy new EVs and sell them 18 months later for virtually no loss and hence have bought cars that they cannot afford under normal circumstances. Worse...

Do MG actually listen to feedback?

So we have to wait for the "facelift" before SAIC will rectify significant issues? On the MG4 the locked in issue has been resolved, but how much was that the pressure from the DVLA etc.? No meaningful progress on the oil leak, undertray, default driving settings etc. But it's not just SAIC, VAG...

Standard Load Cooper Tyres At New

XL is not a requirement on the 96 load index, only on lower ratings. I don't believe that Cooper tyres were ever standard, I've only seen Bridgestone Ecopia on the LR. Cooper is an American made tyre and owned by Goodyear, so makes no sense to be fitted by a budget Chinese manufacturer. There...

    MG5 Balance charge every time?

There are a number of issues: the higher the battery is charged to in cell voltage terms (approx % depending on degredation) the worse it is for longevity the last couple of % to 100% is the so called balancing charge where power is bled from the cells with the highest voltage. This is a waste...

Ohme doesn't do the net zero export version of solar charging in the way that Zappi and others do. But they do offer various fixed low charge rates which approximate to your net generation. There's general disagreement as to whether the entirely variable net zero export is a good thing as in...

It Looks Like Speed Assist Systems Are On The Way For NCAP - Perhaps Default On?

Agreed. The safety body believes that the systems will improve safety when they work, and are relying on consumer complaints to make them work once they force them into cars. If people had the option to choose to buy the systems they would, in the main, opt not to and hence they'd never be...

Use EV wall charger as outside plug

Agreed, but if you keep the load down to sensible levels and use an appropriately fused device so that you aren't relying on a 40A breaker then you should be fine. A changeover switch and outdoor socket are far cheaper but not portable.

    MG5 SOH

That's exactly what happens on Tesla and BMW to name but two. Good point. And unusually that is something that we have access to (assuming it's accurate  ) and can monitor.

    MG5 SOH

I'd agree with you, but my understanding is that it is scenario 2. I suspect that manufacturers only care to massage the figures for the initial owners.
