Circular reasoning (Rolfe's solar energy system)

Yes, something I've long found annoying. New estates going up locally with not a panel in sight, my regualr rail trip to a nearby city passing plenty of those two panels surrounded by tiles, and where the fixed and inverter costs must be massive as a proportion of total cost.. I'd hoped the new...

    Sleeping in MG4 [merged thread]

Probably because a rider like that doesn't want to cede more control to the pony, who knows what they're doing. I reckon two more pints on those pub rides and my horse would have got me home! Thanks for the other information: maybe not looking tonight, it's a long thread!

Circular reasoning (Rolfe's solar energy system)

There's always Octopus Agile to consider to see if it meets your own circumstances. It varies in price greatly: Friday I used 37.57 kWh including topping up the car and paid 43.48 pence as it was negative for 5 hours overnight. This last week before then had been bad with little wind (or solar!)...

    Sleeping in MG4 [merged thread]

Haven't ridden for years but not sure that horse would even be any good for the South Downs pub rides I used to go on... Amazing how a couple of pints improves your seat at the same time as minimising the fear of falling off. But interesting thread, and I must chuck a few rods in the car one...

    MG4 in Australia

"Big car! Small p****k?" Only to be done out of the window and in Drive.. Not something I'd do myself, you understand, but I believe in Australia the rules are different. :-)

I will never buy another MG ever again ?

Don't worry, I used to live in the Alps, but a rear wheel drive MG4 SE is a bit different to a solid Fabia! No doubt there are better vehicles for the snow but I was certainly never embarrassed by the Fabia, but the MG4 is my first rear wheel drive car.

    MG4, not a good car.

My best friend (she's on my MG4 insurance..) made sure her office staff went out on site for the day on customer visits and alarm installations and maintenance. It's all part of understanding the business and doing a better job. I think the mechanic at my local dealers knows his stuff but the...

I will never buy another MG ever again ?

My first car lost me £30 over 10 months but I did additionally have to put in some new alternator brushes and got a nose bleed taking off the steering wheel for some wiring repairs done by a friend (I'm not very mechanical). After that I didn't really notice depreciation: never spent more than...

Would you buy an MG 4 again?

No wonder this thread is drifting so much!

Would you buy an MG 4 again?

Me too. One of them is liquid: wine at home and nutritious real ale down the pub.. (have you tried most pub wines?).

You CAN road trip an SE SR

Is that the whole cycle? Should be 100% by the end..

You CAN road trip an SE SR

Since I last posted on this thread I've been to Italy and back in my MG4 SE, so yes, you can road trip this car. We did a variety of speeds on the autoroutes and N roads, and as the holiday went on they crept up, as experience showed us the penalty wasn't too great, and certainly better than...

Richmond Portsmouth - MG Dealer Discussion, Opinions & Experiences

I think they are seriously under-resourced for the sales they have made, although the mechanic I spoke to once seemed to know his stuff. Nor am I sure if the SAIC head office have quite sussed the expectations of their new market when it comes to service levels. I've now got to get a...

Batteries : MG4 SE SR versus Trophy LR

If there's a medical reason for paying extra for a particular reason that seems entirely reasonable, but as someone who pays as little as possible for their cars the MG4 SE SR has been perfectly adequate for me, and just got back from Italy in it this last week. The car still cost 5 times more...

    Space-saver spare wheel queries ...

Another question after the revival of this thread! I have an MG4 SE from 2022 and was hoping to use my old MG ZS EV spacesaver as referred to in the thread (post #8 and the linked youtube video). I haven't got round to getting the jack and wheel brace out yet to check! Are there differences...

    Anyone need brake pads yet?

How about occasionally charge to 100%, find an empty airfield, car park, private road etc and accelerate in reverse and then brake? No issues with the electronics and job donew for another 6 months... :)

To go Extended range - To XR or not XR.

I couldn't justify the cost of a longer range MG4 but have no regrets with the SE. Don't do many trips which require charging but did a 300 mile leg last year in the UK, and later this year off from the south coast to Italy. I've never let the levels down too low but I've seen over 80kW charge...

    MG4 Software Update Thread

I had the gear box oil breather done on Wednesday and a software update so that I now get the temperature display. What I didn't expect was this morning when it said the temperature was low (14*) and did I want Intelligent battery heating? Que?! Never had that before. Also I went round to see...

You CAN road trip an SE SR

Having read a bit further into the thread, I've a question about the driver alertness system. Does it reset even with a very brief stop as on long distances with my friend we share driving and the other goes to sleep. The passenger seat reclines very nicely but you do need a pillow for a...
