AC = Alternating Current (as found in household electricity)
DC = Direct Current (as found in batteries)
Inverter = Electrical device that converts AC into DC and visa-versa
V2L = Vehicle to Load. The car provides an AC voltage output to power devices connected to a suitable connector. Must...
“ODB2”
OBD2 = On Board Diagnostics version 2
An analog and digital connector interface that allows data to be read and written to various systems within the car.
A picture paints a thousand words ;-)
If you can get it to work that would be great, and yet another big plus for the car.
The important thing is that when the grid is off your system must not be putting any power back into the grid. I would guess your system already takes care of this as you...
The output of the V2L connector is 240V AC and would not be phased linked to your house AC. You could feed this into your DC batteries to charge them via an inverter in some way WITHOUT the connection being live on the GRID or going to your house ring, but not easy and not sensible.
You are...
Totally agree. Advising a customer to disconnect the 12V battery leads and then to connect them together on a car that has a 73kWh 400V battery that has a connection to those two cables (it charges the battery through them) is NOT sensible.
The good thing with these guys is they have excellent and knowledgeable EV service staff. They are also main dealers for Skoda cars and MAXUS electric vans.
I have had the Gen 1 ZS EV, the MG5 and my current ZS EV Trophy Connect all from Cinderford MG.
Have fun in your ZS EV. Absolutely no issues with using the “granny charger”. In fact it far better to use that than sticking it on a rapid charger. Absolutely no damage to the battery will occur using the granny charger. Ignore anyone who says otherwise :-)
You will still need to ensure that...
