Ok, final post. Dealer has returned the car. They updated software, and after extensive testing haven’t been able to reproduce the fault (except through controlled tests with the wheels in the air). So MG said they are satisfied, hopefully wont happen again ?. Ideally the software update fixed...

When my winscreen broke it took months for the glass to turn up. Had to drive around with a huge crack in the screen. Then a couple of weeks for the dealer to get the right hardware / software to do the calibration. Complete saga

Interestingly, it’s been a long wait and a lot of testing, but I’ve just been getting alarms on phone, they’ve managed to reproduce the error !! Annoying not having the car. But I agree - dealer has been going into bat for me on this one, if there is an issue I’d like to have it fixed.

Pleased to hear it. Car has been at the dealers a couple of days now. I got an alert on the phone showing they encountered the same fault while testing it. But when chatted to the front desk, they said 90 plus faults logged when car was delivered, so they cleared the faults, updated software...

Personally I don’t think mg4 lka is bad (like this article says). I just think lka should be optional on all cars ! It seems to me its useful for some owners, and not for others. Should not be mandatory.

Or, they could not make lka mandatory. Its useless tech.

Where I live it goes off every day about 200 metres down the lane. I hate it. I end up trying to turn it off driving around a hairpin bend. Thats the dangerous bit. My only cure at the moment is to try and remember to turn it off before i leave the driveway. Political parties need to pick up on...

NCAP/govt/authorities need to sort this out. Most of us have made it a routine to turn off LKA. Its stupid tech that introduces more risk than its trying to mitigate
