Hello everyone,

I need to replace my windshield/windscreen due to a small crack.

Has anyone gone through this process before?

When I asked the dealer about calibration(dealer+service of mg and volvo cars), they told me that calibration isn’t necessary for MG or Volvo cars.

Did you get a price from your dealer for a replacement windscreen?

I can't remember which of the windscreen companies it was but one of them now has the equipment to recalibrate the camera etc.

I didn't but i saw one of them which includes
1. windshield price (~390€)
2. adhesive (~70€)
3. workmanship cost

I'll share it, if i find it again.

When my winscreen broke it took months for the glass to turn up. Had to drive around with a huge crack in the screen. Then a couple of weeks for the dealer to get the right hardware / software to do the calibration. Complete saga

I dont know the specifics of MG / SAIC, but had this headache on my last car, until the 2nd windscreen company explained how they do it. There are 3 types of calibration, 1) dont do one as such (just check the ECU / fault codes on the dash), 2) A static one (which entails, pointing the car at a board) 3) a dynamic one, ie self calibration whilst driving.

You'll find that if a re-calibration is necessary, most companies wont even touch the car as they very carefully check the car over before they start the job. Having said that if it explained what the issue is, when dropping off the car, and a discussion is had both ways, as to what the options are then its usually possible to get a solution. Which is what happened in my case.
