Let’s be clear - software is just like hardware and if it doesn’t work then it is faulty. The fault is that the MG does not adhere to the charging protocol.
This was a recurring theme on my 2020 ZS EV. Scoundrels tried to charge me for software updates that fixed factory defects. The worst was...
It’s the only car that I have had that pops the pipe. And seems to be so for many other owners.
MG are fixing with a pipe extension because of the fault and charging customers £130 for the pleasure.
Design fault.
Sound very familiar - experienced 4 years of issues like this with my ZSEV until the 6th December when it went back.
MG really did not help. Computer says there are no faults!
Why would you have a fight and be awkward. The most prolific network and half the price of the ionity across the way at McDonalds Cribbs causeway.
Don’t be a ****. Adoption of EV relies on collaboration and respectful use of the charging network.
We don’t need a Trump hero here thanks.
Ask them what they actually do to an EV at a service apart from extorting money from you. Its fraud in my view.
My Tesla is 6 years old now had never had a scheduled service. This week it has had self diagnosed replacement of the 12V battery - 24hours response time from the mobile service team...
Very typical I’m afraid. My ZS EV goes back on the 6th December and that will be a good day.
I have no problem with GH - I think they have a very bad pass from MG. You cannot maintain a car on a shoe string and the problem resolution goes back to China (assumption).
Leased mine new and at first...
Thanks Fred. I learnt this the hard way. Called AA for a recovery when MG broke down. AA couldn’t come out because DB had not been updated. Had to pay for recovery. Only later did I find out why.
Really MG need to sort them selves out.
I checked my last service record / invoice . Mileage noted...
I had a similar issue with service records. My MG ZS EV has been to a main dealer for all of its 4 years of service. I have a written statement that there was no service book supplied with the car from new and the MG data base has the record.
Well unfortunately not because it is not always...
Thanks for insights. My lad has had this issue several times with public chargers. It’s not the fault of the charger in my opinion - it’s how MG had coded charger management.
Just tell MG that you want a car that works.
Their customers service is poor and they do not deal with recurring issues.
I do admire this blog and the ingenuity of the bloggers but really MG are accountable for fault finding and fixing their cars.
Fortunately my lease finishes early...
Any more insights on this. My ZS has matured from HV Fault to Vehicle Control System Fault.
Once again thanks to the AA for getting it going. Rather fortunate this time as we just turned into the services from a smart motorway. Could have been serious.
Anyone had a constructive response from MG?
Yep same with mine. MG dismissed it consistently because computer said no problem. Not funny breaking down on a smart motorway. AA know more about MG than MG!
Mine goes back in December and I finally get rid of it!
The alternative is use the brakes or go into the back of someone. Take your pick!
One foot driving ensures maximum life of brakes and tyres.
One down side is cheap disks rust and corrosion is the end of them - not wear.
Where did data come from. I ask because elsewhere on this site it references that MG have hard coded the SOH into the diagnostics.
Mine when battery is completely flat to fully charged takes 32kwh. Not 44.5kwh capacity.
73%!
Computer says 92%!
Interesting- I tried like hell to get MG to accept fault but they would not. HV failures and battery capacity. Their diagnostics are really bad.
AA and this forum know more about MGs than MG.
