charging speed

A charging station, also known as a charge point or electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE), is a piece of equipment that supplies electrical power for charging plug-in electric vehicles (including electric cars, electric trucks, electric buses, neighborhood electric vehicles, and plug-in hybrids).
There are two main types: AC charging stations and DC charging stations. Batteries can only be charged with direct current (DC) electric power, while most electricity is delivered from the power grid as alternating current (AC). For this reason, most electric vehicles have a built-in AC-to-DC converter, commonly known as the "onboard charger". At an AC charging station, AC power from the grid is supplied to this onboard charger, which produces DC power to charge the battery. DC chargers facilitate higher power charging (which requires much larger AC-to-DC converters) by building the converter into the charging station instead of the vehicle to avoid size and weight restrictions. The station then supplies DC power to the vehicle directly, bypassing the onboard converter. Most fully electric car models can accept both AC and DC power.
Charging stations provide connectors that conform to a variety of international standards. DC charging stations are commonly equipped with multiple connectors to be able to charge a wide variety of vehicles that utilize competing standards.
Public charging stations are typically found street-side or at retail shopping centers, government facilities, and other parking areas. Private charging stations are typically found at residences, workplaces, and hotels.

    Dc charging at 250kw station

Hello. Today i took my mg4 51kwh to ultra super fast charger. Its rqted at 250kwh. I plugged it in qt 58% soc. But im only getting max at 63kwh speed. There was an ioniq 5 charging at the time too. Im curious. Isnt the 51kwh batt mg4 is rated at max 117kwh speed? when 2 cars are sharing a...

    Granny lead charging speed

Hello. Just took delivery of my new mg4ev magnify here in Indonesia. It's a weird combination of 51kwh battery with trophy spec ... Anyways. Was charging the first time. I'm curious why am I getting 1.3kwh instead of 2kwh. While my amp meter was showing 8.7amp drawn... should it be close to...

540 Mile Round Trip - Zero Issues

Popped home to North Wales over the weekend to visit my mum. 270 miles each way. On the outbound leg we charged at the Stafford Ionity chargers, 6 units at that location, three free but one was off-line. Arrived with 18% charge (I'd forgotten to set charge to long trip mode the night before so...

    Charging Speed at 10%?

Today I inadvertently ran the main battery down lower than usual and just now plugged it into our MG wall charger when I got home. The charger reliably provides 7.2Kw when topping up in my usual range of 25 - 75%, but with the battery at 10% it was only working at 2watts. The charging port...

    A few recent issues

Hi all, I’ve had the MG ZS for about 6 months now and like the whole experience a lot (for my first EV), but I’ve noticed a couple of issues that have cropped up recently and wondered if anyone has had a similar experience. Firstly, on more than one occasion when I plug it into my Smart Pro...

    Charging speed

Using a 22kW type 2 PodPoint but it’s only charging at 5.9kW. Battery was 56% charged so assume the lower rate is due to the battery level vs charging profile?

    Charging speed query

Not sure if i doing something wrong here but any advise would be appreciated - SE SR received yesterday - first time charging today at work on the 22kw charger using the MG supplied 32a type 2 cable but i'm only getting 3.27kw charging power, i would have expected around 7kw - battery was at 69%...

MG4 SE SR rapid change at 88kw

    Charging speed poor

Fast charge charging rate - on 10 occasions I have specifically tested fast charge rates on Grid Serve, IONITY, BP and Shell charging stations. This follow complaints from my daughter that fast charging takes for ever. The maximum charge rate has never been above 37kW. The car is rated at 76kW...

General FL 5 (and other models?) range.

In the near future due too work, I'll have to start using the public charging network. Up to now, home charging has served me well and the ability to go to 100% with no time constraints. Now here's where my "range" question gets interesting, bear with me please. The FL 5 has a theoretical range...

    Charging Speed: Car or Cable?

Charging question for anyone who knows the answer! I've got a ZS SE LR (72 plate), and I want to know what's limiting my charging speeds. On a 22kW Type 2 chargers using my own cable, it'll max at 7kW; and at 70kw CCS chargers it'll max at 50kw. I've seen posts on here from owners getting...

    Charging speed

I have the trophy model and for some reason I have never been able to hit over 80kW when charging. Ionity chargers I hit around 73kWh, BP Pulse I maxed out at 50kWh. Has anyone else seen not been able to hit the higher figures?

    Slower than expected charging speed

Apologies if I'm missing something obvious here, but first EV so I'm probably full of dumb questions. A bunch of new AMP EV 22w chargers have popped up in town, so we've took the MG down to give it a top up. The cable we have is a 3 phase from EVcables. We've tried two different chargers but...

Type 2 lower than expected Charging speed.

Hello everyone, Just brought home a new MG ZS EV SR 22 plate. In my previous EV I was pulling 7.2KWh from our tethered wall charger. For some reason the MG is only pulling 6.4KWh. Now for some people that might not be an issue but we’re in Octopus Agile so we charge at night at a reduced...

Mk2/Facelift MG ZS EV SR - actual maximum rapid charging speed achieved?

Hi everyone! I wonder: what is the actual maximum charging speed in kW anyone has seen at an ultra rapid charger (100kW+) for the standard range facelift (Mk2) ZS EV? Reason to ask: this detail is not mentioned in the PDF brochure available on the MG Australia website, I didn't find it on the...

    AC Charging Speed

I plugged my Trophy into the work 22kW wall box this morning, I was expecting it to be limited to 7.4kW but was pleasantly surprised at the 9.74kW it charged at. Makes for a shorter charge when you're getting your juice at 2kW per hour quicker!

    5 Long Range charging speed

Put our car on a rapid charger today and the charge speed was much slower than expected. Took 51 minutes to put 25.5kWh in the battery which equates to just under 30kWh per hour. AC 7KW Charging speed

Alright then folks.. help me out with my first real issue! LR versus SR motor, charging speed etc

My understanding is that the motor and motor controller are identical between the two models, but because the SR model has a higher voltage battery, my guess is that field weakening happens at a higher speed. The difference in peak power isn't massive, it's 13% (130 kW versus 115 kW). So up to...
