charging

A charging station, also called an EV charger or electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE), is a piece of equipment that supplies electrical power for charging plug-in electric vehicles (including hybrids, neighborhood electric vehicles, trucks, buses, and others).
Although batteries can only be charged with DC power, most electric vehicles have an onboard AC-to-DC converter that allows them to be plugged into a standard household AC electrical receptacle. Inexpensive low-power public charging stations will also provide AC power, known as "AC charging stations". To facilitate higher power charging, which requires much larger AC-to-DC converters, the converter is built into the charging station instead of the vehicle, and the station supplies already-converted DC power directly to the vehicle, bypassing the vehicle's onboard converter. These are known as "DC charging stations". Most fully electric car models can accept both AC and DC power.
Charging stations provide connectors that conform to a variety of standards. DC charging stations are commonly equipped with multiple connectors to be able to supply a wide variety of vehicles.
Public charging stations are typically found street-side or at retail shopping centers, government facilities, and other parking areas.

    Winter covers suitable whilst charging

Hi, I have an SE mg4 and notice a big impact of the temperature on my winter range. As my car is charging over night (right next to my house, on my drive), are there covers that entirely cover the car but can be used whilst charging as well. And if not but not whilst charging would be useful

FREE Octopus electric but how to override their charging schedule

Hello, This may be a dumb question but I can't fathom how to make use of the free electric tomorrow morning on Octopus. FREE between 7-9 Sunday 24th Nov. So here's the problem. I've set my 7kW Zappi to kick in 7-9 (so I don't have to get up at 7 and plug in); but when I plug the car in Octopus...

Is there a way to read battery state in kWh?

I don't know if anyone else has faced this, but I consistently see a 10% discrepancy in the charging rates and wonder if I can get to the bottom of this. I charge at work using Amp/Fuuse chargers, which consistently report 7kW charging rates. When I check the MG iSmart app about charging rate...

Had my first time of seeing chargers with the cables cut off yesterday. I decided to go skiing in Milton Keynes yesterday, despite setting off with 80% charge and GOM of 200 miles for a round trip of 170 miles the combination of cold temperatures and 70 mph roads meant as I headed home the GOM...

Charging my MG4 at Tesla Superchargers in Exeter

I see from ZapMap that the open-to-all chargers at the Exeter Tesco Service Centre (EX2 8FN) support contactless payment. Do I also need an app to activate it? I would like just to roll up and use my credit card at the charger. I don't have a smartphone which is why I don't have the app. Same...
