electric car

An electric car, battery electric car, or all-electric car is an automobile that is propelled by one or more electric motors, using only energy stored in batteries. Compared to internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, electric cars are quieter, have no exhaust emissions, and lower emissions overall. In the United States and the European Union, as of 2020, the total cost of ownership of recent electric vehicles is cheaper than that of equivalent ICE cars, due to lower fueling and maintenance costs. Charging an electric car can be done at a variety of charging stations; these charging stations can be installed in both houses and public areas.Worldwide, 6.6 million plug-in electric cars were sold in 2021, more than doubling 2020 sales, and achieving a market share of 9% of the global new car market. All-electric cars represented 71% of plug-in car sales in 2021. As of December 2021, 16 million plug-in electric cars were on the world's roads. Many countries have established government incentives for plug-in electric vehicles, tax credits, subsidies, and other non-monetary incentives while several countries have legislated to phase-out sales of fossil fuel cars, to reduce air pollution and limit climate change. The Tesla Model 3 became the world's all-time best-selling electric car in early 2020, and in June 2021 became the first electric car to pass 1 million global sales. Together with other emerging automotive technologies such as autonomous driving, connected vehicles and shared mobility, electric cars form a future mobility vision called Autonomous, Connected, Electric and Shared (ACES) Mobility.

Ordered an MG4, due in 2 weeks

Hi, I'm a newbie here. I've had a Toyota Yaris Cross Hybrid for 6 months. It's a great car, but I wanted to get a fully electric car instead. I had a test drive in an MG4 and liked it, so I placed an order for an SE standard range. I spoke to the dealer today and he says it will be around 2...

    MG EV ZS

I am currently charging my new car for the first time at a public Pod point. It has been on for just over 4hours at 22kW I think. I had to put some money onto my account so loaded £10. How much do you think it will charge if I disconnect soon. ??
  3. New MG4 has arrived and.....

Having been driving the ZS EV for a few months I was curious as to how I would feel when the MG4 finally arrived. It came on Friday and was put to use for a 450 mile round trip over the weekend and I have to say on the whole I'm very pleased with it and here are some of my first impressions...

    LOADS OF ELECTRICITY

Hello my home is supplied with a DIY solar system, and this time of the year I have enough electricity to run 3 homes starting most days on a 700AMP battery 80% charged, so by 10oclock in the morning the charge controller is dumping excess charge, it looks good sense to have another electric car...

3 weeks and 1k miles so far

Really enjoying driving my MG4 trophy, so much so I look for excuses to get out in it. Lifetime consumption over the 1K has been 4 miles per kWh. Mostly home charged on the granny lead with sunshine but I've tried a few public chargers partly to prepare myself for a trip to North York Moors...

… and I absolutely love this car. It makes me smile every time I drive it, greeted with “Wassup, dawg?” custom message, and even the idiosyncrasies make me smile as it has its own character. It makes my solar and battery install an even better investment too. Yes the LKA needs an update...

Very interesting video. Though if their guess at the price is correct, that is going to be around twice our casually optimistic guesstimates of around £30k.

Anyone else driven a Tesla 3?

I went to Ireland at the weekend and hired a Tesla 3 - and I actually missed my Trophy. Aesthetically, I much preferred the Tesla's interior and it seemed to be far more superior, but the drive was a lot less comfortable and not as 'fun', particularly on country roads, but also on the...

Bit of a long shot question, but has anyone ever used an electric SUP pump via their electric car? How much charge does it use up roughly? Or just not worth it for the energy drain?

Six hours in a traffic jam...

... and all the electric cars were running out of battery. Well, that's the story I was told in the Post Office this afternoon. Of course it was second-hand and I don't even know where this immense traffic jam is supposed to have happened. I mused that EVs don't use much energy at very low...

Here in France, as of today, you can buy a Tesla model 3 with 621 km of range for 42290€ - less than a Renault Megane E Tech. Delivery in May / June. In terms of range per Euro this makes it cheaper than my MG 4.
