voltage
Voltage, also known as electric pressure, electric tension, or (electric) potential difference, is the difference in electric potential between two points. In a static electric field, it corresponds to the work needed per unit of charge to move a test charge between the two points. In the International System of Units, the derived unit for voltage is named volt.: 166 The voltage between points can be caused by the build-up of electric charge (e.g., a capacitor), and from an electromotive force (e.g., electromagnetic induction in generator, inductors, and transformers). On a macroscopic scale, a potential difference can be caused by electrochemical processes (e.g., cells and batteries), the pressure-induced piezoelectric effect, and the thermoelectric effect.
A voltmeter can be used to measure the voltage between two points in a system. Often a common reference potential such as the ground of the system is used as one of the points. A voltage can represent either a source of energy or the loss, dissipation, or storage of energy.
Hello to all readers.
Just got a new ZS Hybrid + and have a query regarding the High voltage battery fitted to this model.
The sales brochure indicates the battery is 1.83 kWh capacity however the Battery information booklet shows a
hybrid battery sq-5.2 Ah-1p96s-1
which is a 5.2 kWh. They...
Right after a full charge to 100%, when first turning on the car, what HV battery voltage do you get?
Please only reply if you have a 51 kWh LFP battery (standard range Mk2 ZS EV).
This is what I got this morning, 410V:
Background (TL/DR):
I am using OVMS to monitor my car. Doing that I...
Anyone else seeing the difference between the 14V battery reading on the dashboard and within the app? Any idea which one is right and what the expected reading should be? 13.8V on the dashboard and 14.4 on the app!?!
Hi everyone,
I recently bought a lightly damaged MG5 Exclusive with a Cat S rating. The slam panel is cracked, and I’m planning to replace it myself. However, I’m running into an issue with the high voltage wiring that runs through the top of the slam panel. I’m not sure how to disconnect the...
Hello guys. Sorry if this question was asked and answered earlier (please merge threads in such case or just delete). But i have one question.
I charge my MG4 Lux by fast charge stations and everything is OK with it, car gets 140kW (when the battery is warm enough). But when charge is finished...
Normal mains supply here in Thailand is 220v 50Hz, but this evening it's down to 214-215v - possibly due to the extensive flooding for the past couple of weeks here in Chiang Mai. The meter by my MG wall charger is showing 215V, 30.9A and a charge rate of 6.5kW See attached picture (the kWh...
So I've been reading and trying to figure this out. Can anyone confirm or correct my findings?
The 12V battery is charged from the HV battery when driving.
The 12V battery is charged from the HV battery if I press the start button two times, without pressing down on the brake pedal.
It's okay...
After a couple of times recently when attempting to start the car showed the ‘HV Battery Shutdown message’ I noticed the 12V battery was showing about 11.8V. I popped my booster pack on and it started instantly - once started, the dash showed 14.6V for the battery. So, I suspect my 12V battery...
Hello guys, i've done some research online but I can't seem to find definitive answer what my battery voltage is.
I own MG ZS EV from 08/2021 with 45000km on the odo. After balance charging it shows 404 volts. I read that it should be around 450.. is this valid for the facelift model that I have...
There's an informative thread over in the MG4 section about Balance Charging:
https://www.mgevs.com/threads/balance-charging-a-few-questions.14135/
My question, born of ignorance, is whether there are any 'Best Practice' documented procedures for keeping the HV battery in good shape?
In my...
I am trying to understand more about my EV and the battery.
When I look at car scanner I can see cell voltages and max min voltages etc loads of hv battery info.
What should I be looking for in terms of identifying issues?
Just after a little guidance as I want to understand more about the...
apologies for cross-posting if this has already been posted.
.....Summary: Car just out warranty (110kmiles), kept going into limp mode, Reason: Water ingress of HV battery due to battery lid sealant degredation.
....cracking result, one to watchout for going forward, as i expect this to...
This app is good for a lot of things BUT I'd like to see the cell voltage spread to check if the battery is balanced as in the two years since new the car has never said it needed a balance or that one had been done when I've charged to 100%. Is there another app out there or is eZS still being...
This morning. Checked car to make sure he was awake and ready to accept a pre-heat command later.
Internal temperature 9°C
External temperature -7°C
Last driven on Friday afternoon (that's the day before yesterday), and even then not far enough to warm the cabin. Given the frost on my windows...
Car is a ZS Trophy LR, just under a year old.
We have started seeing messages that the "Low voltage battery needs charging, do not leave car more than 3 days unused." Or words to that effect.
Yesterday evening we parked up with the battery registering 13.8V. Later in the evening it was down to...
High Voltage Battery Pack Mafunction
This error light appears very regularly my 5 month old MG4 Trophy and more often than not it vanishes after about 10 seconds.
Occasionally it comes on along with the note to Contact an MG authorised Repairer.
It can even cause the car to stutter violently...
Good afternoon all, new to the forum. Apologies if this has been covered but can't find it.
I recently bought a MG ZS ev 2020.
One thing I have noticed is the voltage reading on the main battery pack is around 431v. I have been reading this should be around the 450v mark. I will carry out a...
Hi All,
I have New Zealand market 2022 Mk MG ZS EV, I recently got a 3rd party V2L adapter as MG STILL hasn't released the MG V2L adapter!
NZ the voltage is 230/240 The guy that makes them has had one of his BYD Atto3 customers complain that the voltage out of the V2L is low so he asked me to...
Bought my MG4 from Glyn Hopkin in Cambridge in Novermber. Went to start MG4 this morning and noticed that it had failed to charge overnight. It will not charge at all. The low-voltage battery charging system malfunction warning light was on. Phoned MG and they told to phone AA. Phoned AA and...
