ZS EV Trophy LR
Hi all!

I’m new here, So I do apologise if this has been covered but I need some help!

I’ve got a MG ZS trophy LR 2023 I have been loving it so far… basically the car is through a scheme at work it’s leased though a company called lex autolease, it was pulling to the left when I had lane assist turned off, so I put it in to my local MG dealer to check things over on Monday turns out that my local MG dealership couldn’t fault pulling to the left, but did find an issue with the 12v battery a warning came up when the tech was out on a test driving the car was saying it’s not charging, they tested the battery and it was at 4% battery heath and told me it needed to changed.

So back and forth with the lease company and MG the battery was finally changed along with a service and software update.. but the job hadn’t been paid for due to some dealership politics… and he wouldn’t let the car go without payment (which I understand completely) The car has been stuck in the garage for 7 days. So ive went down today not a happy chap, and spoke to the service manager he turned around and give me the keys and said we are just going to give you the car back, I will deal with lease company.. as your in the middle etc etc.. anyway drove 20 minutes down the road and here’s the same warning sign 12V Battery system charging fault with a yellow triangle telling me to stop the car immediately,

Has anyone had this issue? Or thinks it’s deeper than a 12v battery Or do you think the MG dealer has put the old battery back in the car as they haven’t been paid for it?

Any help would be massively appreciate! Sorry for the long post!!

So, to simplify: the car has a 12V charging fault. The dealer has changed the battery to no effect and, due to some kind of dealer/lease company politics, has put the 12V battery back in and returned the vehicle to you, unfixed and undiagnosed..

I don't understand how the 12V battery itself would affect the charger. Is it possible you could take it to a different dealer and ask them to check the charger as well.

Well, he’s said the work has been done and he will deal with the lease company, I’ve drove the car 20 minuets down the road, and it’s came up with a charging fault. So I’m thinking has he put the old battery back in the car or is there a deeper issue here

I would go to another MG dealership and if they diagnose that battery at 4% then they put the old one in to get rid of you. If there is indeed a new 12v battery and the fault exist take it to leasing company and for early termination of your lease. I am sure they will be abit more helpful in getting the car looked at. My MG has now done 76k miles and my 12v battery is at 80%. Not technical but it sounds something is disabling your 12v from holding charge.

You could go to a battery specialist and ask them to check it, most will do a load test for free. Halfords do a free test, as do KwikFit.

This is my worry I think they have put the old battery back in to get rid of me, but surely they would know that I would come back! Might I add they don’t have a courtesy car available!! So I’ve been without a car for 7 days already!

I will speak to me leasing company on Monday and see what they say but I’ve read loads on here about CCUs could it be linked?
