Just had my 1st service with a mileage of 2600 miles
Required brake pads removed and regressed the backs £28 front £28 back
Air conditioning serviced £74
When I asked for Bluetooth upgrade to R59
Told no upgrades available but if I wanted this sorted they would have to put it on diagnostic to
find the problem. What a shambles

Did the brakes need doing due to the low mileage?
Did they mention the aircon before they serviced it?
If the R59 is a recall update then surely it should be done as part of the service.

Who's your dealer so I know NEVER to use them.
Ever.

Absolute Tosh.

I take it those costs were on top of the service price?

My first X Power service was a mere £94 all in.

Thieves!!!

Edit : Oh and a free upgrade to R59.

And yes that was on top of service charge which I paid for when I purchased the car

Sad to see this sort of caper being carried on.

I suppose it's only natural as dealers are not making high margins on oils and numerous service parts etc.

Service charge? Do you mean you bought a service plan? (As did I when I bought mine from Arnold Clark - 3 years servicing plus first MOT).

They've just been upselling - you didn't need either of those actions. And if the aircon needed looking at after only one year and 2600 miles then it was faulty.

Have you checked and confirmed that MG Assist (AA breakdown cover) has been registered for another year?

Absolutely no need to service aircon unless it isn't working properly. This (and brake fluid replacement, nitrogen in tyres etc...) are modern up-selling scams that dealers use to make an easy profit (remember they make most of their money from service). There would be a case for potentially doing this after 5 years or so, for peace of mind, but definitely not with such low mileage and after only 1 year.

As the car is low mileage there is the possibility of rusted discs, but I can't see the need for regreasing - I assume this is the sliders, not the pads themselves - unless it wasn't properly greased on collection, in which case I would expect that to be done for free. It isn't something that needs doing every service!

To get an infotainment software update, you typically have to report a problem and ask for it to be fixed under warranty. Common problems are bluetooth, DAB radio and CarPlay/AA issues.

Sorry to hear that your were ripped off, it is all too common.

When getting my car serviced I have long had the policy of: "Is it required by the manufacturer as part of the service?". And if the answer is no, I refuse it.

I told them that Bluetooth was a problem as it kept asking me to pair again but they said there was no call back updates.
And they would have to use diagnostics to find out what’s wrong and I guess that would justify another charge.

My fist service at WLMG in Reading cost me £88.00. One year, over 8K miles. Not the supplying dealer due to lack of confidence in them. My previous small ICE would have been over £200. And, I got all software upgrades, which fixed the same Bluetooth problem, and some other issues.

Never ever go to Glyn Hopkins. Total rip off. All those charges are completely unnecessary for a car that’s done 2600 miles. I would demand my money back.

Curious to know which branch you went to
