2022 SR trophy charging speed

This community is good, sorted my issue with sat nav that dealer didn't know about, I rang them (with the solution and stated it wasn't mine) so they could help more owner's

The readings are taken from the app, and it looks right by how much charge is put in the battery, I had a leaf for 4 years so I hope I know what to expect
You don’t seem to be an experienced EV owner / driver because you don’t know the difference between kW and kWh.
The first one [kW] is [charging] power and the other one [kWh] is the amount of energy (either received or consumed).

Oh dear.
Although this maybe factually correct, I think we still understand the members problem and feel both his pain and frustration with his new car.
He needs some help, not a lesson in EV correctness to be fair.
Give the guy a break hey ! ?‍♂️ .

Had the car 3 weeks, never gone above 3.5 kwhr, gonna try a rapid tomorrow on a 120 instalvolt then a local 7kw post others find reliable. Fingers crossed ?, Been driving EV 4.5 years now some may think I don't know what I am on about (dealer's) no offense intended to anyone from a Sheffield lad
After you have tried the rapid, can I suggest that you also try a fast with a tethered type 2 cable. This would then eliminate your type 2 cable, in case that is the problem.

Thank you, Was just considering deleting this app, 4 .5 years leaf 24 ownership I consider myself someone who knows what to expect from an EV charge. I usually don't post alot because someone always wants to check the dot's and t's are in the right place.

Worth a try ????.
His home wall box is tethered and that is where he found the problem, thought it was the wall box, he has tried a couple of public A/C posts with the MG supplied cable, same result.
Not sure if it charges correctly on a D/C rapid unit ?.
But yeah, could try using the A/C side of the rapid I guess ?.

Please don't do that !.
The forum has a lot of good and informed advice.
Let it go over your head - I do !.
Help is the aim of the game, not political correctness.
It's not what your say, it's the way you say it !.
Stay !.

I to struggle and find it hard to get my point across thanks to bad dyslexia but it helps me think outside the box and it's been successful for me but i do get frustrated trying some times but this forum have made it a bit easier for me and the little microphone on the keyboard think if it was not for that I would not try to post

It does not come over that way at all, I have to say.
Total respect for both you and the time and effort you put into your posting !.
Keep up the great work.

I agree that this medium is intended primarily for mutual assistance and the transfer of experience.
However, it is also necessary to use the right terms and units of measure for proper communication and correct help, otherwise misunderstandings can occur.
If we can forgive the leack of knowledge at beginners, we should definitely expect consistency from someone who has been a user of an electric vehicle for many years.

It bypasses the inverter when using a D/C rapid.
It bypasses the on-board charger. The inverter drives the motor. On most cars including the MG, these are separate units.

As for why you get inconsistent charging speed, perhaps your battery is poorly balanced? After the update, it balances at a slightly different SoC, so it may take some time to rebalance at the new SoC.

I would expect this to only affect charge speed at high SoC. Is that the case, or do you sometimes get slow charging speed at say 50% SoC?

Is it possible that you had the bad BMS firmware earlier, that was actually driving your battery out of balance with time? If so, it could take many weeks for the battery to balance.

Thanks for clarifying that !.
Question :- We know that when charging from a A/C supply ( wall box / public post ) that the 12 volt battery is being maintained / charged at the same time.
What happens when charging from a D/C rapid unit ???.
Is the 12 volt battery being charged ????.

What happens when charging from a DC rapid unit ???.
Is the 12 volt battery being charged ????.
Yes. Any time that the contactors are closed, the DC-DC kicks in and tops up the auxiliary battery.

Now, whether that's at about 13.0 V or 14.0 V, that's another story. Leafs do the same, but they charge way too often at 13.0 V, meaning that the auxiliary battery never gets a chance to fully charge, and the auxiliary batteries on Leafs suffer an early death. The situation is supposed to be somewhat less dire in the latest models, but still not great.
