Abusing the TJA.

Bricktop, I know you keep emphasising that TJA is not meant for motorway driving, and I don't get why anyone would do it. It seems to me that you would need to absolutely monitor it every second - so why not just turn it off and drive as normal? However, I find that on the motorway, ACC is fantastic - I steer as normal, letting the ACC take over should I look in my mirrors just as the car in front hits the brakes

I keep emphasising about it not being for high speeds because people who keep tagging onto the end of the thread without reading the first post think 'It's a thing'.

I too, as a rule only use ACC on the motorway set at 73mph.
My GPS indicates this as a true 70-71.

My original post was just a bit of fun, but I think a mod should consider deleting the whole thread due to some folk getting the wrong end of the stick.

But you're right ... TJA (Traffic Jam Assist) was never designed for use at motorway speeds - the clue is in the name. The fact that it might work in such a situation (like a poor-person's auto-pilot) is another matter entirely ... and the fact that it was designed for lower speed conditions may explain why the steering is twitchy at higher speeds. ?‍♂️

I knew the voice of reason would be along quickly.

I wish I'd never posted it tbh!

Ooo, massive change of subject.

I've always wondered how you highlight your text and looking above I've just learnt how it's done.

Old dog, New tricks! ??
