I regularly use TJA on my motorway runs which are around 30 miles, apart from moving lanes to overtake someone really slow the car drives the whole way uninterupted. I guess the road markings are very clear on that section of motorway so that probably helps it, but even at night when the road marking are only lit by the headlamps it still works perfectly. I havent had any jerks or lurches on the motorway, but it can have some wobbles on B roads where markings arent as clear.
Its amazing techonology but far away from completely autonomous driving that some Teslas can do in the states.
LKA is a very different thing from TJA even though it must be using the same algorithm, I switch it off everytime I get in the car. I'll complain when I take it for service next month to see if they'll update the software
For the avoidence of doubt to the naysayers, we are all capable of driving the cars ourselves.
I myself have been at the wheel since 1985. Quite capable, last time I looked.
Yes Jeff, I agree, it's not perfect.
My Model3 used to throw its toys out of the pram from time to time.
The first time I let the Tesla drive was very exciting! Just like something out of a SciFi movie.
The tech is deeply impressive, if still not 100% just yet.
I'm sure all manufacturers will get there in the not too distant future.
We've (others, not me. Far too fik?) put men on the moon and had supersonic aviation for a time.
Driverless vehicles should be a doddle.
I reckon in 5 years or less there will be driverless taxis roaming around the streets.
It's all being tested right now in different parts of the world.
I would happily have a go in one.
LKA is switched off when I first get in the car.
It's still a bit 'beepy' because our B roads have no markings.
It hasn't ever had it try to kill me though.
Just a slight nudge on the wheel is all.
