MG3 Hybrid+ Trophy
I have just ordered a red trophy mg3 I’m extremely excited and I should get it by the end of the week. However, during my test drive I struggled to understand all the cruise control features and I’ve done some truly extensive research to try and figure out how to use it and no one has been any help. When I asked the salesman he said I will pick it up as I drive it which I thought was a rather rubbish answer so can anyone help me out? A specific part I didn’t understand was the difference between adaptive cruise control and intelligent cruise assist.

The ICA, which from memory is the option to the right on the screen, gives you adaptive cruise control and Lane assist, as well as some thing called traffic assist.
In effect this is, in the right circumstances - clear road markings are pretty important, allows for very effective level 2 autonomous driving, where the car is steering accelerating braking etc without driver intervention. Whilst if you take your hands off the wheel completely after I thin 10 seconds the car will start to warn you to put your hands on the wheel, it will negotiate some quite reasonable curves by itself. There is apparently a legal limit as to how far the wheel is allowed to turn, so sharp corners have to be driven the traditional way!
I for one use this feature nearly all the time, as it takes so much effort out of driving, and I always remain amazed to see the steering wheel moving by itself.
Whilst not the most sophisticated system, it certainly very useful and for me one of the reasons for choosing the car.

Had my mg3 less than two days now and I’ve just been on a long trip around 200 miles in total and I’ve gotta say the Intelligent cruise assist is superb I couldn’t fault it in the slightest, it really does make the car much better. A little tip for anyone that owns this car and uses the ACC or ICA regularly, when you come to a full stop for longer than 3 seconds and the car requires you to put your foot on the accelerator, you can just flick up on the left joystick to resume driving I found that much easier to use in stop start traffic.

I got exactly the same response from my salesman. Picking it up as you go along appears to be flipping dangerous and probably illegal having to touch the screen with varying success and trying to read and understand stuff. With a proper book you can study at leisure is so much better. On trying to fiddle with screens when parked you soon get told to switch off as its flattening the battery - what a surprise - any further understanding at that time has to cease!
