Active Cruise & cornering, is this an issue?

Hi all, I've had me SV EV since September. I love it, however I have a we gripe! When on ACC, as I move the steering wheel on a bend the power drops. go around a tight bend and I'm slowed right down unless I override by pressing the accelerator. Is this a fault, or am I missing something? It isn't an issue because I now prepare and compensate by either using the accelerator or turning off ACC on urban and country roads.

Yes, it's supposed to do that.
Personally, I would only use ACC on the motorway.

It dawned on me after posting that I'm probably trying to be a bit to lazy as I play with the new 'toy' ? And actually it is best not to use anywhere else but on the motorway!

I find it good for 20 and 30mph limit areas.
I agree 5mph increments is good idea

I have had my ZS EV for about 10 months now and have to say MG's implementation of its ACC is rather 'harsh' compared with other car manufacturers. Whether MG will do anything about it is anyone's guess, but I really only use it for motorway driving, Hopefully a software update at some point may appear. The other downside of the ACC is that when the car is automatically slowed down, there's no energy recovery.

From the manual (page 206):

"Note: The adaptive cruise control system is designed for highways and roads in good condition. It is recommended not to
be used on urban roads and mountain roads."

and

"When driving on a bend, the adaptive cruise control may actively reduce the vehicle speed to maintain vehicle stability and safety."

I used ACC for the first time yesterday on a run up the M5. Loved it, thought it worked really well. Made for a relaxing motorway experience once I learned to trust it. Shame about the lack of energy recovery though.....

Have to say the 2 places I have found not to use ACC are on a road with bends and any road with lots of parked cars, otherwise great for motorway cruising.

On my mg4 I use it around town. If there is a band use the accelerator to let it know that it is ok and it picks up and continues when straight again

Yes, and it’s annoying.
I wouldn't mind if it was a tight bend but while driving 50 in a 60, going round a gradual bend, it slows me down quite a bit. These are corners I could easily take at 60 with any roll.
the other annoying thing about ACC is when a car has stopped ahead waiting to turn. Car carries on going 50 then slams brakes with collision warning. Now I have to turn it off when approaching a stopped car when driving about 50

I've an MG4 and when I have ACC and 1 pedal driving set then regen is active when maintaining speed on down hills on motorway.

As mentioned earlier in my previous post, MG's implementation of ACC is a rather 'harsh' driving experience. Having driven several other manufacturer's vehicles, MG's version is poor. Hoping for a software update to make it significantly better

I think it is because the mg can only see directly in front of itself so it is blind when the steering wheel is slightly turned

Yes this explains it perfectly!

Even a slight bend and it brakes. It slowed down on a straight road today and I guess the sun hit the sensor or something. Not sure what happened.

It’s a bit concerning how many people are driving around in potential death traps without reading the manual, or at the very least those chapters that describe the behaviour and limitations of the driver assist features. Please, these are not autonomous vehicles.

I think the issue is that MGs (of various types) slow down far more than is needed for the bend radius ... in my own MG4, since the latest software updates, ACC is far better - previously it would slow from, say, 60 when encountering a relatively shallow bend; now it'll continue round that shallow bend at the set speed. But if you encounter a sharper bend then it'll slow down accordingly.

I've obviously not had that update mine slowed right down today. Luckily I anticipated it and put my foot on the accelerator
