Adaptive Cruise Control and regenerative braking question

No, as far as I know, this was because the ZS was based on the Petrol platform, they just used the off the shelf ACC unit. it is a shame. But I guess I can understand they were trying to hit a price point. so just used what they had.
I think this is a common misconception that i also believed in.

BUT...

This guy claims that he has "hacked" the MG ZS EV system and made a hardware device that could be mounted in the ZS EV and radically change it to do real one pedal driving, use regen for ACC AND go all the way to 0 mph instead of now where you need to apply a bit of braking to get the car to stop completely.

Reading the comments, this guy seems to claim that the hardware inside of the ZS EV could easily be updated by MG to support this feature, but they just chose not to. From what i understand, the reason is, they use the same code in both EHS and EV and they did not bother to remove the software part that prevents the ACC from using the regen.

It is also claimed that he would sell this mod as as plug in box, but i can not really find it for sale anywhere

I also have a hair loss product that works 100% if anyone is interested 😉

Seriously now, I would not risk my life on something like this. I use Regn 3 setting and that works fine for me. As to ACC, I don't bother, not because it uses brakes but because the driver in front usually drives like ... you know what... and I get fed up with their random speed changes ...

I have followed his videos, too, and if he could offer that as a plug-in box, I would buy it! From what I have seen, he is a fantastic tinkerer, but he does not seem to sell anything. Shame.

I was offered beta testing of this, but got cold feet. I just can't predict what insurance would have to say about it if there was an accident that might have been associated with the unauthorised modification.

I believe that the author has switched to a BYD EV now, which ironically has somewhat weak regen power. So I don't think that the project will be available now. I'm sure that the prototype was real
