It is for retired national government employees so I don't see why not.

They don't publish all the small print.
I'll repeat that it is available to retired civil servants at least. I can be certain of this because I am one and I did qualify for the discount!
No reason I can see why it would be different for a retired local government employee.

It was the first question I asked in my first contact with the dealer.

I think that I may have missed out then as I am a retired Headteacher. My dealer made no mention of it at all.

This was not mentioned to me when I was at Richmond MG and my wife is a teacher?
I don't remember a salesperson of any kind ever volunteering to reduce the price of anything when someone was willing to pay the higher price. You have to negotiate before agreeing to buy. I definitely overpaid for mine because I signed up before the best prices became available. But I was happy with the value I got and I don't begrudge others for getting a better deal.

Petriix - That is a great attitude to have, we could all look back and say what if. I was going to buy mine at the original price but then found I could get a discount as my wife works at a university. The dealer checked with MG and yes 5K discount. Happy days. (Even without this the car is still excellent value)

Yes, wise words, Petrix. I paid a very competitive price for my 5....but have to admit, the trade-in price for my Leaf 30 was disappointing. It was all done in a bit of a hurry and I was grateful to be able to have the car do quickly, but I wasn't given the trade-in value until I signed the final paperwork and it was rather buried in that.

As Petrix says, however, I was pleased overall and I'm delighted with the car itself. Today, on a run up to the north of Sheffield, across to the west of the city and then back home, I drove 40 miles altogether on just over 13 per cent of the battery
