Picked up the car on Friday brand new. Aircon and normal fan doesn't work. Took it back Saturday for a quick look .. They couldn't find out why. Apparently they need to connect it to a computer and log in at MG for them to diagnose the issue.so they are going to pick up the car from my work one day next week.

Fingers crossed and i will keep the post updated

Update they are picking the car up from my work on Tuesday and replacing the whole HVAC system ! Wasn't a fuse or relay when I took it in last Saturday.

Bob,

I don't know how much is involved but I would seriously think about rejecting the car and asking for a new one. As Chris says that is quite a big job. Did they say how long it would be which would hopefully give you an indication of the complexity of the work involved?

Regards

Frank

PS If it is a big job (and I would suggest anything over 5 days work) but you decide to keep the car I would hope at the very least your dealer gives you another EV to tide you over. My dealer gives me a poxy mg3 petrol car as a cortusey car which I complained about as I am not wanting to go back to petrol even for a couple of days.

Bob,

Just in case you were considering rejecting this is an extract from a consumer guide:-

Short-term right to reject – the first 30 days
If your new or used car has a significant fault that was present when you bought it (as opposed to developing afterwards), you can reject the car within the first 30 days and get a full refund.

You do not have to accept a repair or replacement vehicle (although you can if you want to).

If you have part-exchanged your previous car on the new one, you will not get it back. Instead, you will be entitled to the full invoice price of the car (including road tax, VAT, etc).

You are entitled to a full refund by the same method in which you paid for the car. The dealer cannot charge for usage, wear and tear, collection of the vehicle or anything else.

It is the dealer’s obligation to collect the vehicle, unless your sales contract includes a clause obliging you to return the car. You only have to make sure the car is available to collect.

Be reasonable about this and work with the dealer if you want to get your money back with minimal fuss. Make their lives difficult and you can be sure they will return the favour…
