All Android users, advice please

Tried changing the AVRCP version plus a few other thing and no difference. Still can bring up a list of tracks, however when in AA mode (plugged in to USB A) it does show the playlists etc.

Thanks for the suggestions though.

I think I know what you are trying, I don't think you can get list of tracks in Bluetooth. I used Spotify on Bluetooth and on mine (ZS Trophy) I even have to start Spotify on my phone first to be able to move from radio to phone...
Looks like the connection is like the car is simply a Bluetooth speaker for the phone , it that makes sense... I'll check next time I'm in the car just to make sure, I only got it last week so still playing around with it ...

So I now have a usb-c flash drive. Loaded with music. Works great. EXCEPT. Seems to need to be removed and plugged in every time we start the car in order to trigger a scan of the files. Any experience anyone else?

Maybe try USB-A flash drive instead of USB-C , it might make a difference?

Mine's a USB-C. Got the car back from its service (where the buggers didn't update the infotainment) and it started exactly where it had been last time I played it which was a couple of weeks back.

That's the whole point-I need the usb A for the phone.

What size flash drive out of interest? Maybe this is too much for it to deal with on startup. Seems weird though

The computer says the drive is 2.53 Gb which is a bit odd because the packet I think it came in says 1 Gb. It only has 403 tracks on it though. I can't see where it tells me how much data that is.

Open Windows Explorer and select the This PC option on the left

You can see your USB drive listed in the window on the right ... it should tell you how much is free space of the total capacity of the drive, like below:

Mine works fine every startup now .... the only issue for me at the beginning was that I think I loaded too many tracks onto it and it did'nt remember any of the tracks (similar to your problem ?) Once I reduced the number of tracks it worked fine. I have a 64gb USB C stick.

Ah, I was looking at the master file on the computer itself. Cancel what I said about 2.53 Gb it can't be that. The drive is 1 Gb. I was trying to get the size of the files from the master file in Windows Explorer, and can't see it. (The USB is in the car.)

So I bought another flash drive (16gb instead of 128gb -i only had about 15gb of music on the big one anyway). It appears to be sorted. As opposed to having to take out and reinsert to get the car to recognise it, it loaded up automatically (when inserted before turning the car on). Fingers crossed that's it! (Clearly 128gb was just too much for the car to auto-recognise for some reason).

I retract that statement. It did it automatically once. Since then I've had to take it out and reinsert to get it to show up. Nevermind!

can you upload all your music to your phone? probably makes life so much easier and you have it with you all teh time ...
I use Spotify (free version) with playlists and have music mp3 folder on my phone that works perfectly fine with my ZS
(downside is that you don't have the individual songs displayed)

See me first post on this thread about that... (Music stored locally on phone and played through apps like musicolet often just doesn't work - I'll get an "app is not responding right now" error. And as I'm using the phone (connected via usb a) for maps can't play through bt. Hence the whole rigmarole of trying to use usb c flash drive.

Thanks might give it a try. Just annoys me -such a simple thing -why does it not auto-scan (or remember) every time the car starts? It knows something is plugged into the USB c but it's like it's an empty drive until I remove and reinsert it.

could be that they on purpose disabled that USB port when the car is off to prevent battery discharge if something was left plugged in and it can only be initialised when plugged in once the car is up and running ...

Except this is not a problem with the SE R13 version where there are no folders. I leave the stick plugged in all the time and no matter how long it has been it always picks up from where it left off. Including over the time it was in for service.

In fact I seem to remember (not sure) that when I was fiddling with the stick and took it into the house to add tracks it remembered its place when I plugged it back in.

FWIW I use the VLC player on my phone through android auto and it works every time.
I also use it for video files ,although since the update I've lost the full screen which is annoying when watching films .
