What's the difference between green and amber? I've never sussed that out. It just seems to be random.

Amber is ‘option available’ while green means ‘currently active’, in case of the ACC you need to push the button on the stalk for it to go green.

... Or pull the stalk towards you to lock in a previously set speed.

I've got a 72 PFL LR Excite and get this quite often. It does not appear to affect the driving and, as far as I am aware, it simply means the camera/sensors cannot resolve what it has seen/sensed.
I did ask about it at the 1yr service and was told it was nothing to worry about unless, of course, you know differently.
