I have a new 2024 MG 4 51kW.
I have been trying to connect with a high quality USB cable, my Google Pixel 7 Pro to Android Auto.
The MG 4 Android Auto does not connect and keeps asking me to attach the cable.
I have tried this many times over a period of 2 weeks.

Connecting with a Samsung Galaxy is not a problem and makes the Android Auto connection quick and easy.

Does anyone have a solution or information for the Google Pixel 7 Pro connection to Android Auto?

No problems with my pixel 7 pro in MG 4 64kW luxury for me.

Try other cable maybe. And you probably know you need to use the USB A connection since you got it working with samsung.

Also after I got R46 update (probably quite similar to R33 for your car), android auto is more stable.

Try searching this board for Pixel ... something rings a bell about this.

Have you tried an Anker cable? (No personal experience, but others have reported that Anker cables - especially short ones - have helped in respect of newer phones).

I have a MG 4 extended range I had the same problem it was the cable replaced now working fine

Using a using a USB powered hub with an even shorter (10cm) tail fixed the problem on the one phone we had problems with, whereas shorter cables were only partially successful.

I have not yet heard of anyone else trying this yet, so don't know if our case was a one off.

I've had an intermittent problem with pixel 7 pro continually disconnecting from MG4 SE. It was cause be fluff/debris that had got into pixel 7 pro connection port. Could be worth cleaning out and checking you're not fluffy!

I used to have problems with AA in my MG5, which were pretty much cured with a 30cm, certified high quality cable, as my slightly longer cable gave me occasional issues.

Now, I've just come home from a holiday in N Ireland with a hire car (2021 Skoda Fabia ICE - And boy, was I ever glad to get back into my 5), in which I used my longer cable all week with absolutely zero issues.

I think MG have heartily skimped on the USB interface, certainly in the 5.

I wish I'd tried my long, crud cable in the Skoda.

I had this problem and someone recommended this. I have no idea why ADDING a connector to the chain works, but it did for me. Regards Paul. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09MRYH52V/ref=twister_B0BLZ79QQF?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I had a lot of fluff in my USB port that was causing an unreliable connection. Even after cleaning it with a wooden toothpick it only made it slightly better, but not good enough. In the end I just bought a wireless AA/carplay adapter from AliExpress for around AUD$40 to work around the problem. Very reliable now.

I've now doen the same. Bought an AAwireless dongle which comes with a very useful app.
AA now works fine, without problems.?
The AAwireless is a bit more expensive at €60 here in Holland, but worth it I think.

It's a USB hub, so the total cable length from the MG computer is only what is behind the dashboard. The hub receives each bit of data from the MG over that short length, then transmits it on to the phone over a new relatively short length (between the hub and phone).
