Android Auto Wireless adaptor (Recommendations required)

I ordered one off of Aliexpress a while back. It worked but took a while to connect so I went back to a cable. The trick is to get an expensive cable that is certified for AA. The bigger the connector housing the better as in a good cable will have a chip in it to clean the signal, maintain voltage etc. cheap ones are connector and wire dodgy soldering etc. and are less reliable.

I've also seen things on line that Android Auto keeps getting updated and is making older wireless adaptors stop working, so definitely don't spend much on it!

Mine connects within 30 seconds or so... The only "problem" (because it wasn't really a problem) I had was first time I plugged it in and connected my phone Bluetooth to AA dongle, the music I played via AA kept switching on and off - realised what happened - the car kept trying to connect to my phone Bluetooth at the same time and that interrupted the sound. Clicked to disconnect the car and my phone Bluetooth connection and that was it - since then my phone still connects to the car if AA dongle is not plugged in and when I do plug it in, phone connects to it. I have the latest Android on my phone and so far it all works fine.

Of course, things might change as you say and that's why shouldn't pay more than £15-£20 and buy one that can be returned if not working ?

Bit late to the party but I got this one off AliExpress about 3 months ago and it works flawlessly. I leave it plugged directly into the USB port all the time. By the time I have opened the car, sat down and turned the car on it it is all connected and working (I have it so it always opens AA and starts playing music as soon as it connects). At the begining I had a couple of times that it would not connect but I just unplugged it and plugged it back in again. It seems though this was a Android Auto or my actual phone issue as it is fine now and the dongle hasn't chaged. Regardless it was 15 quid delivered so it never bothered me and was still way way more convenient than trying to plug the phone in all the time. It's for sure the best thing I have ever bought for the car though :)

Got another box that acts as a separate Android device, wanted YouTube and Netflix when charging... Set-up not quite straightforward, took me 20 min to fiddle with it but hopefully, it's done. Uses my phone as a wireless hotspot... £28 on AliExpress

EDIT: 18.07.24 update - perfect, works without any problems. Can switch between normal car screen by clicking home button or carplay icon ...

Top right hand corner of AliExpress page, set your location to UK. I don't use AliExpress much as I don't trust them, but my location always comes up as Afghanistan.
I downloaded app, been using them for years, never any problems and half price what you pay on eBay... Temu is also spotless

You are lucky. I've had loads of trouble with them, and you can forget trying to get a refund.
