So, I may have wisely or unwisely just booked a week in Staveley, not far from Windermere in early August for this years annual hol. Never been to the lakes before, always wanted to. Decided best to get on with it before I die of old age.
I've checked zapmap etc and not a lot of rapid chargers. I do understand lots could open twixt now and then {ahem ?} ( cough Tesla cough). Anyone got any pointers / constructive thoughts or advice for bev hol in the Lake District, please thank you.?

Instavolt at the train station at Windemere and at Booth supermarket in Kendal.

I used the Kendal ones as a top up while i used the loo and bought a meal deal.

As i parked up at the B&B and walked everywhere for 2 days, this was sufficient to get me to onto my next destination.

Thank you. Having had a brief overview I was thinking Instavolt is my best bet.
I prefer as fast as possible rather than the all-nighters. We're there for 5 nights and may well be doing more walking than driving, but all good to know so thanks again ?

If you are going anywhere near it, I believe the Reghed Heritage Centre also has some: two 60kW GRIDSERVE dual electric car-charging points.

Indeed it has. Saved my bacon the Saturday before Christmas when there was a queue for the Instavolts at Booth's supermarket in Penrith. The chargers are the old Electric Highway ones, two units, one with two CCS and one with a CCS and a CHAdeMO. They will share power if both plugs on a unit are in use so you might only get 25 kw, but if you're there for a while that might not matter.

I was lucky to get the CCS plug that shared with the CHAdeMO and since no Leaf showed up I got full power and was charged to 85% (SR car) in about 40 min. As I was leaving I noticed the drivers on the other unit were fretting about low power and one of them moved to the plug I had been on once it was free.

Does where you are stopping have a charger or at least allow you to granny charge? You should have loads of range in August, as you won't average over 20 mph (optimistic) in the National Park.
Top tip don't leave Kendal mint cake on the dash!

Thanks everyone.
Apparently the parking at the property is tight but I will take all cables to cater for all possibilities ?
Kendal mint cake/ dash - noted.
You never know, I might be able to get there and back on one charge given avg speeds in England during August ? ( I've got a little solar panel ?)

@DaevM it seems there's a parking fee of £2.30 for 2 hours now at booths, looking at posts on the instavolt app.

Last year they were in the middle of changing the parking charge system so it was free.
Unsure if there's a1 hour parking option.

Last time I was there it was less than that, and they refunded the parking if you bought something from the shop. (That was in Kirkby Lonsdale a year ago, not Penrith.)

Booths in Keswick and the main carpark in Keswick town centre have decent chargers. Don't rule out a ride about on the bus though. They're great. And cheap

Just been staying in Staveley last week, and have been travelling all over the district during the week. Just about all council car parks have ac type 2 chargers at 7kW or 22kW, so I've always plugged in when stopping for 2 or 3 hours each day. Most are Pod Point in car parks. Unfortunately, you still have to pay the car park charge too, but it's enough as an opportunity charge every day if you're stopping to look around anyway.
Best way in Staveley though is to use the Hawkshead brewery yard chargers behind the cycle shop. Entry is next to the Spar shop on Main Road. There's 4 x type 2, 7kW chargers, walkable from anywhere in Staveley. Beware of the car park charge though in the day, but which is free after 6pm, so I took the car after 6pm and left it there all evening (Fuuse app) and walked back to the cottage. Could do that every evening if necesssary, and overnight till 8am. Car park free 6pm to 8am.
By the way, brewery is brilliant too for a drink, and other shops there as well.
Have a good time, excellent place to stay for travelling around.

Brilliant, many thanks for that, very much appreciated.
It's going to have to be a mindset change for me. I've had 5 years of only ever DC charging away from home and AC at home. The idea of leaving the car whilst charging is totally foreign to me ?

Give the Hardknott Pass a try. No worries about riding gently down on the brakes, just use regen and watch the range go up. Beautiful run.
