Are ICE cars really cheaper than EVs ?

We have had 2 Honda hybrids a Insight gen 1 and a CRZ, the Insight was a Japanese import and a CVT, it could easily do 80mpg and was quick as it was aerodynamic and extremely light. The battery failed so I built a lithium battery to replace it, it was a game changer, far more power it could scare far faster cars half to death

Yikes! Imagine if you had a classic car as your daily driver, that could get expensive!

Mostly these would be registered as special use, so use limits and concessions would apply.

I was thinking the same thing if they introduced that sort of thing over here The '74 VW Kombi runs on LPG, so that wouldn't be so bad, but the Ford Cargo 12ltr diesel car carrier truck would have to get an attachment to convert it horse drawn

It is a nightmare over in France, I have a 223 Lomax and they are popular there, but as its a kit they make them jump through hoops and importing one is difficult if impossible unless it's papers are perfect

Bad enough over here, bought a damaged MG4 that had been hit from behind .... didn't look like much damage when I bought from a salvage auction as a repairable write off ...... the paperwork trail required every step of the way when repairing it is crazy, to get a slight wrinkle in the back floor pulled out that would take me maybe 15 mins, I have to employ a body alignment shop to take all the readings before the repair, then after the repair and match them to the manufacturers specs .... and a 6 mth min wait to get the car in to even start the job ...... I'm quite expecting the initial measurements to be way out of spec over the whole car .... and it has 448km on the clock ..... I now understand why the insurance companies are quick to write off a vehicle as unrepairable never to be registered where a few yrs ago, a weeks work and it would be back on the road .....

Absolutely barking, my MG5 had an accident, needed a door and straighten the rear wheel arch, ends up a cat S for a one day repair! How does this rubbish happen? Honestly secondhand door in same colour pull arch into shape slim of filler you know the rest whole job in materials less than 200 squids at most.

That's for the 1st year brand new car, after that , nothing. Not overly sure what it is if you buy secondhand, there is an amount to pay linked to the Malus rating for the vehicle. Cannot remember what I paid , but low hundreds ( 2 to 3 ), both Peugeot 307 and Boxer . MG zero. Its one reason French people keep hold of their cars and don't keep swapping . In effect as long as you own the car its a one off tax at the point of registration.
