I would really have been pushing the finances to afford one of these more expensive cars. I'm seriously glad I didn't have to, and that it turns out I really like the MG4!
Decent driving car and good if you get one without issues, the SRs seem a bit more robust and hopefully your new dealer proves better than your first🤞

I haven't had any issues that have interfered with my enjoyment of the car. I had the undertray warp, but it didn't actually break and it's fixed now. My charging port lights failed, but it's booked in to have these replaced under warranty. There was all the hassle about getting R33 installed, which took far longer than it should have done, but I had workrounds for the bugs it fixed anyway. I have been able to drive the car with nothing to interfere with that since I got it.

It's true the SE software seems more robust than the Trophy. I've never had my phone unpair. Satnav with Android Auto and Google maps works a treat. The phone also works perfectly through Android Auto to the point where I'm actually amazed. The bugs in R13 were at least consistent and stable, and most of them have vanished with R33.

There are still three bugs left, but two have workrounds, and who knows, maybe they'll fix them next year.

I haven't changed dealers yet because I'm waiting for the charging port lights to be replaced in a couple of weeks, but after that I'm off. But the issues with the dealer were attitude, rudeness and abysmal customer service ethos, not actual poor workmanship.

Right now I feel like I am in a conflicted relationship with a beautiful car who is a joy to drive and look at, but that has a series of annoying "foibles" and behaviours that sour things somewhat.

It would be fine but she keeps doing new bad things that are taking time and money to put right.

I describe it as "Tainted Love".

I keep oscillating as to whether to have another MG. There's much I like and much I hate at the same time.

I'm seeing more of that with Trophy owners than with SE owners, I think. If you've bought the higher-spec model it's not unreasonable to expect better performance and reliability, but it seems to be the opposite. That the additional bells and whistles the Trophy comes with bring their own annoyances.

I've said "in the middle", though I feel nearer to Yes than No. This might be premature after just 500 miles but the drive experience is so much better than my Skoda Roomster. It's annoying programming the mode settings for each drive. I'm in two minds about updating the software. I'm not using cruise control or Android auto at the moment but potential bugs is a discouragement to trying to use them

I think my biggest problem is going to be not having a reversing camera.

I find that the SE software is a lot more stable than people describe for the Trophy, and I've been absolutely gobsmacked by how well Android Auto works. When I got the car the phone I had at the time didn't support AA and I ran it for over four months without. When I got it I was amazed by its capabilities and now I have no idea how I managed without it. It has glitched once or twice, but these cleared on their own.

I also find that the ACC is extremely useful both on the motorway, and to ensure compliance with the speed limit going through villages. Again I didn't use it to start with because I'd never had any sort of cruise control on any of my previous cars, but I'm very pleased with it indeed.

I've never had a reversing camera of my own either, and I find the rear parking sensors very good. Whenever I've had a hire or courtesy car with a reversing camera I have found these difficult to use, although I appreciate when you're used to one you may be of a different mind.

Best way to handle the "pre-flight check" is not to let it annoy you. It can't be helped, so you have a choice. Be annoyed or don't. Beyond that, I think you can get to like the car a lot if you let yourself. Use Android Auto, it probably won't be buggy, and play around with the ACC to find out what it will do.

I'm not critical of my car because its the top spec model, I'm critical because I bought a brand new car and it has had common faults from day one, if the keyless door button had become intermittent and it was an isolated thing, it would be no concern for example, but the parade of systems faults should have been picked up and fixed in development, it has been clear from day 1 that the car was rushed. I would be no less critical of a £1M super car than I would on a £15k Dacia Sandero. When I buy a budget car (MG is a budget brand) I expect cost savings in materials (scratchy hard plastics, squeaks and rattles because they don't spend a year going through the car and applying tape or felt to rubbing surfaces like a Lexus for example) but if something is fitted I expect it to work with no issues.

The pre flight of turning stuff off frustrates me because its a faf, I can't just hit a button and get rid of what I do not want. I have to go through menus and "confirm" my choice. The traction control in the Mustang I owned was lethal on greasy or icy roads, thankfully I just had to tap a button and it turned the system off, no menu's, no please confirm you really want it off, just a simple on / off button.

Agree rushed to market

Pre flight is a nonsense shouldn't be needed and is just making excuses for crap systems that don't function as they should.

Some cars have found a better blend of physical buttons and touchscreen. Unfortunately MG went touchscreen heavy but don't have the tech or the software systems to back this up at the moment

Only had mine a couple of weeks but love the car, it is as good as I had hoped it would be. Couple of bugs in the software R40, but coming from a Tesla which had good software if you liked what they decided they wanted you to have in terms of functionality and annoying updates all the time. I am in no hurry to update the MG4.
Mine is the X Power version, and I must say it drives very well, awesome feel to it on the road and it is more than fast enough.
Looking at the poll results and seeing the vast majority of people like the car I am comfortable with my choice.

I own a Luxury64 my24, so far only downside is I have to wash it sometimes... but I fear nobody invented the self-washing car.

Transitioning from a petrol Fiat Grande Punto 1.400, was shocking. But in a positive way. Now my wife want to get a rid of her Seat Ibiza for an EV. She is looking with a shark-smile at ES-5 previews

I'm still on R13 but I thought that was what @siteguru said. Maybe the Trophy is different.

If the car simply displayed the correct speed limit, and didn't lie to me because it read some irrelevant sign, and didn't start a song-and-dance act every time I go 1 mph over the limit, I'd leave it on. But as it is, it goes off. The Android Auto speed limit display is polite and civilised.
Are you still on R13 or have you had the car updated?

I was loving mine (except for losing the Dab radio stations) until this cold weather. The 50% loss in range when I put the heater on is ridiculous. I expected to lose maybe 25-30% like I did with the ZS but 50% is seriously poor, I even manage to lose 75% range if I use the pre heat as well. It's got me considering getting rid and swapping it for something else next Autumn, something more efficient.
?
I thought these items had no adverse affect due to their power being supplied by the auxillary battery/ies and not the main motor's battery ?

The PTC heater is fed from the HV battery as it is rated up to 7kW on full blast. (Although it'll never run at 7kW continuous).

A range drop in winter is inevitable, but I don't get anything like a 50% drop - and I have the SE SR with the LFP pack, and LFP seems more temperature sensitive than NMC.
