I've voted yes here. For the car itself, I'm very pleased (save the AC issues currently being sorted by the dealer). It drives well, it's well kitted out, spacious and generally easy to live with.

In terms of the MG as a brand...I think they run the risk of alienating early customers of the brand with the varying levels of service when problems do happen. My local dealer where I am are fabulous, but it's clear MG "micro manage" the support when things go wrong. Dealers need more control and access to info for quicker resolutions. My infotainment issues and now this charger issue, have been more challenging than they should be - again, no fault of my local dealer.

Would I get another? Yes, I think so. Via salary sacrifice, the car is a true bargain. Coupled with solar panels at home, a house battery and Octopus Intelligent Go, running the car is ridiculously cheap!

Notwithstanding the MG4XP vibes, which truth be told have very nearly been completely eliminated with my tyre change.
I love my car.
It just takes a bit of getting used to when you first get it.

Same as anything though really.

Totally agree - takes time to get use to. As a new owner I often feel frustrated and hope these things improve. Paired my phone now it's not paired, and cannot save my radio stations !! there's part of me wantsmy i3 back....... but I'll keep learning and hope I love it soon.

Hi everyone! New member. Probably not the place to introduce myself but I'm old and don't easily do tech/social media so hopefully you'll give me some slack? Am I liking our new MG? Meh. It has a lot going for it for the money. It's good looking and my first electric car and I'm liking the acceleration and handling. Bought it at 14 months old, 13,000 miles, and initially loved it. However, passenger seat recline mechanism is broken and the MG dealer we bought it from (Holdcroft, Stoke) seems uninterested in fixing it. The infotainment system is dire! I mean, a real headache! Bluetooth connection drops out most drives requiring reset each drive. LKA is downright dangerous and requires multiple menu options to turn off each drive. The 'touchscreen' is a press-and-hold screen (when it can be bothered to respond). About as responsive as a teenager on a Sunday morning. Perhaps I ask too much given the low price, but really, I would have thought Bluetooth and touchscreen was pretty basic tech now. Anyway, I'm sounding a bit Victor Meldrew so I'll stop here. Hello ?

Sounds like you lack software updates. In newer versions LKA can be disabled from swipedown menu. Also less annoying if you get the latest LKA update for the car. Screen is also more responsive with newer software versions.

Thanks for the info. I've contacted the dealer again this morning re the seat fault and they say they're expecting the parts in early July, so maybe they're not avoiding me after all. I mentioned the possibility of software updates and they say they'll do them at the same time as the seat fix so fingers crossed I'll be a much happier MG owner soon.

I am now.

I wasn't too impressed with a brand new vehicle being delivered with wheels that were out of balance and needing to return within a month to get a whole host of modules updated so I had ACC in 1mph steps etc. Especially as I had specifically asked for all updates to be done at PDI. Apparently the SCUK001 was not listed against my VIN, even when it went back a month later.
Still on R46 and not R59 but I can live with that until it needs to go back to the dealer for something else.

Compared to the e2008 the range is phenomenal and it is proving more efficient at motorway speeds as well. The software is just as clunky as Peugeot though .....

Have had my mg4 trophy for 2 months now and enjoy the way it looks, the way other people look at it and when driving. However the first few minutes when I first get into the car and have to reselect my personal custom options - OPD, disable lka etc, especially after a short stop, is really becoming annoying. Like most others, I find the touchscreen hates me, especially whilst driving which can be dangerous.

If a short stop doesn't require the car to be locked, this may help a bit. I don't normally turn LKA off any more, but for the rest this has worked for me.

It is more responsive in the later infotainment versions, although this comes at the price of slower start up time.

People often come to a forum for information (sometimes before purchasing) but also to get help with issues they have. This can sometimes give the impression that there are lots of problems when, in fact, happy owners, just get on and enjoy their cars without feeling any need to discuss them. Which leaves a disproportionately large proportion of threads posted here being about problems. So let's ask the question.

Are you enjoying your MG4?
It seems a nice drive once I get going, but so niggled, to say the least, over paying £36k+ for a car with such inherent problems i.e. Rear Light Cluster condensation and increasing vehicle vibration at speeds over 70 mph, and seriously faulty 'Lane Keep Assist' mechanism, but more so with the Aftercare service that pleads ignorant of such things and is loath to rectify them, forcing me to consider legal action.

I'd get the wheels rebalanced before going down that route.

If the problem remains just give the receipt to your solicitors to claim back.?

If you are still at a low mileage it may just fade away as mine did after 500 miles, reputedly due to flat spots from sitting in a car park for 6 months before I got it.

Agreed. I love the car. The dealer is something else, absolutely driving me to fury. Going to change.
Change dealership or complete change of car? I was thinking of hanging on for possibly another Chinese make with either twice the range or a solid state battery or better. The only downside is all the money lost in depreciation in the meantime. My 'Extended Range' cost over £35k new only 8 months ago and now worth £26k privately or only £18-19k dealer p/x.

I'm definitely going to change the dealer. I love the car, and I'm not interested in chucking a wodge of money at changing it. It really is fine, it does everything I want it to do, and if I could finally get that R33 software update I have been trying to force the dealer to give me, I wouldn't have a lot to complain about.

In fact the main issue is the attitude of one particular guy at the dealership who seems to be in quite a senior position, who is more interested in challenging me on why I want a flat undertray or the latest infotainment software than in either giving these to me or explaining why he can't, in a customer-friendly way. Also the fact that they make me wait for weeks, even months, for a slot to get something done, possibly through lack of courtesy cars. Fed up with it. I'd rather go to Galashiels and spend some time in the museum that houses the Great Tapestry of Scotland (which is within walking distance of the dealership) while they deal with the car, than either twiddle my thumbs in Edinburgh's "New Car Village" where there is the square root of bugger-all to do, or wait months for a courtesy car at £20 a pop.
