Audible warnings driving me spare !

I picked up my new 2025 model HS PHEV Trophy at the beginning of December and am generally very pleased with it, although I find the infotainment screens a bit awkward to use, not being left-handed myself.

My real beef though, is the constant boing, boing, clang, clang of the audible warnings. Yes, I know I can turn these off through the MG Pilot screen (which itself takes two presses to get to, while I’m getting more audible warnings that I’m not concentrating on the road !), but they all return to the default setting of ON as soon as I switch off the engine (e.g. at a petrol station even), and there’s at least half a dozen different warnings !

So, does anyone know a clever MG technician, who could turn the default settings for all the audible warnings to OFF, or even leave them on, but reduce the sound level to zero ? Any assistance with this would be much appreciated…

Check in the information screen for audio warnings may be able to turn them down there also check each type of warning some can be turn off ( also read the manual)

Thanks for your reply Jto. I can’t find anywhere on the info screen to turn down the audible warnings or turn them off on a permanent basis. MG are not supplying a printed manual with the latest model, and the electronic manual is worse than useless ! Anybody else got any ideas ?

It's there the manual..it should help just type in mg phev trophy 2025 handbook...in google

I've been thinking of changing my '22 PHEV, (to a '25' version) it has not put a foot wrong. The DAB is fine, I have learnt to adapt to the quirky gearbox, I've turned off most of the distracting safety features. I do not want to have to do that on every trip, it would drive me bonkers.
I ignore 'the wheels are not straight warning' in case I hadn't realised that as I drove off..
I wondered how much I spent on petrol in 2024, it was just over £35.
If I wanted to find info on the car I would look at the manual in the glove box, not on google, I would not want to print 000's of pages either. Maybe I'm just old fashioned.
You cannot fault the value though, the bangs for bucks is top dollar, I will look for cars under £40k list when the weather warms up and test drive any suitable. Maybe I will go full BEV, (Jto runs a mile) so we can use the wife's Kona hybrid in case of power cuts.

sorry to hijack your thread but just wondering what price people have paid for the current model of the PHEX in DCT Automatic gearbox ? IM looking ot purchase in about 3-4 months and wondering what is best price I am likely to achieve - im aware of on autotrader cindeford GM are selling for £29590 - i'm entitled to MG Affinity scheme and also have registered and downloaded the £1000 Test drive discount ? Just wondering what is likely to be best deal I can get all thoughts appreciated - defo looking for straight cash price also ?TIA Ade

In the car volume settings there's a volume scroll menu for media etc & alert volume that you can turn down to 2 but not 0 so it's still set to stay on but at a reduced volume...

I got the same model around the same time & have the same beef.
I asked the dealer & was told that the system is to like that to comply with top Euro NCAP or whatever it's called. If you find a way, please share it, although I wonder whether permanently over-riding a safety system could invalidate insurance?
Very often there are two of us in the car, each with a set of keys & another annoyance is caused when the driver switches off, gets out alone, closes the driver's door & gets the triple hoot signifying keys left in vehicle. If I had a quid for every time that has made me or someone else jump...

I'm enjoying its economy & performance & apart from infotainment screen & bongs, the only other annoyance so far stems from the running boards / mud traps.

If you could turn off all the alerts NCAP would invalidate your insurance but in volume settings you can at least turn them down to level 2 but not 0 . Better than nothing I suppose , all new cars have these alerts some more intrusive than others ..

Just picking up on your last point - I really didn’t like the look of the car with the running boards on, so I got the dealership to remove them during the PDI. They are now nestling in the eaves of my garage, in case somebody wants them when I come to sell…

I have the same gripe with the 2024 model. My wife is very sound-sensitive and goes into panic when multiple alarms stat going off, especially if you have a bike rack on. As someone said, you can turn down the volume but it seems to default back, the same with Trailer/Bikerack mode which does mute some of the alarms. I found a hack on Redit of how to go into "Workshop mode" and disable alarms, but are a bit scared to try it myself. I thought of asking the workshop to have a look on my first service as it is physically possible to disable these in the workshop mode, lets see. Country Netherlands

That “workshop mode” option is really interesting - please let us know how you get on…

Whilst the various warnings are a bit of a pain, it is, as others have said, common to all modern new cars and as a result the car gets a higher NCAP rating which may reduce insurance costs, who knows.

Personally, I'm wary of adding tape to the eye sensor in case of an accident and someone looks for a reason to avoid paying out. That said, I do switch the associated warnings off via the screen - that has to be okay or they wouldn't allow you to do it.

My routine, unless it's a short across town journey, is to go into the MG Pilot settings on the screen car settings page and switch:

1. Overspeed Audible Warning to off
2. Lane Departure Assist to Alert
3. Driver Fatigue Monitoring to off
4. Driver Distraction Monitoring to off

The above takes less than 20 seconds from start to finish. It doesn't make much difference to the overall journey time and it isn't like I'm escaping from a bank heist or whatever....

At the same time I have Apple CarPlay connecting so it's all really a minimal inconvenience in the general scheme of things.

I also have the vehicle alert volume set to the minimum setting of 2.

The running boards I can put up with. I wouldn't necessarily have them given a choice but I reckon they probably help keep the dirt off the car - aided by some AliExpress rear mud flaps.

So far, I'm 4500 miles into this car and I love the way it rides, handles and drives overall - and I come from 55000 mikes in a Skoda Superb iV SportLine (PHEV).

Hi. I have one as well and agree. !! You can turn off the cabin camera which is really annoying and unsafe I think. Iit even tells you off for looking ahead and glancing at your mirrors. A piece of blu tak cut to size over the camera lens works wonders and doesnt look messy like tape.
It will tell you camera is blocked and a warning symbol which looks like a small coffee cup ! stays on but no bongs! I think we are stuck with most of the others. You can turn off the lane departure permanently I think. Great car BUT!!

Yes turning the audible warnings down to 2 does help & turn the music up lol.
Drove a friend's new Mokka & its alerts are even worse !!
