Auto door lock, anyone know how to turn this off, if possible

I don't think it's user configurable but a dealer may have better low level access.
Asking them would be a good idea but you'll typically find that their product knowledge is weak when it comes to the more detailed technical stuff.

Auto door lock while driving, anybody know if it's possible to turn this feature off
I was once sat at traffic lights in a pre Auto Door Lock car when a drunken idiot tried to pull me out of my car. If it hadn't been for my seatbelt he would have managed it too. Why on earth would you want to turn off the Auto Door Lock system? It's a security measure.

I imagine because it prevents someone dragging you out if you were involved in an accident?

Because if you crash the car it can become a lot more difficult for the emergency services to get you out especially as it can be time critical , A fire for example could become very time critical to get out. I have been wandering how this can be done myself ???

I thought most cars with auto lock have an auto unlock function on collision detection? I appreciate a door that is smashed in won't unlock but it probably won't open either. I'd ask you to try it but I'm guessing that's not an option ?

There are always the windows in an emergency ?

I think you might be right but I would like to know for sure ???

As someone who's had drunken nutters get in my car whilst parked, I'm a +1 on autolocking being a good thing. The "but they might not open" argument could equally be applied to seatbelts if you need out in a rush, and I don't know many that would support never using them.

Doors should automatically unlock, but in case they don't...

I use it as a taxi and it's a bit unerving for females to hear the doors lock when traveling on their own

I thought auto locking was a requirement for Taxis (thinking of Black Cabs)?

If MG is listening - there is no doubt in my mind that auto door lock should ALWAYS be a feature thats USER configurable: or every dealer - mechanic should know how to get it ON / OFF in a couple of minutes. No ifs, buts, or may be. No erudite conversations about safety, accidents etc.

It's a bug in the SE software. It's the only thing that hasn't been addressed in the R33 infotainment update. Some people say it should be possible for a dealer to disable it in an individual car, but when I asked mine I only got a self-righteous lecture about it being a safety feature. If they said sorry we tried but we can't do it, fine, but that dealer won't do anything I ask, only lecture me as to why I should not want what I'm asking for. Like a flat undertray, or windscreen washer jets that actually hit the windscreen.

Maybe if more people moaned about this they would fix it. I'm certain it's not a deliberate downgrade for the SE, any more than the vanishing external temperature display was. It's shonky software.
