Auto Express MG5 news. End of the road

I didn't realise my MG5 SE was so rare.. my car is one of only 72 registrated this year according to that data
My local dealer told me he's never sold an SE at all! As most people buy/rent new using HP/PCP, the monthly payments don't differ very much between the two models, so he must just upsell everyone to the trophy!!

That might explain why I got such a good deal on mine then.
I couldn't quite stretch the extra £2.500 for the trophy model but the only extra feature I was that bothered about was the heated seats so I just bought a cheap padded heated seat cover off eBay which has the added bonus of a physical switch to control it.

You've got the better experience then. Irks me no end that the seat heaters turn themselves off after half an hour and I don't notice till I'm cold

I think the only selling point for the SE was for taxis in an area that didn't allow tinted windows. Which are quite rare.

This news might keep the resale values up as an electric estate would be desirable by many, when they come to make the move to an EV.

AHH i see. I think that would be a huge shame, but seems the way all car manufacturers seem to be going now.

I'm ending up looking at Berlingo type 'mutli vans' as my next one as there isn't anything obvious to replace my 5 with across any maker.
A great shame as the 5 is versatile and useful as the only estate car on the reasonably priced market

I got my MG5 SE about a month ago, so maybe it's 73 registered now? That was at a 35% discount so I suppose they were clearing the decks for more popular SUVs (why are they so desired?). I also have a Volvo V70 - 15 years old - and I'm amazed at the similarity of the styling between the two. Fair to say the style is "last generation". That's why I like 'em. BTW, Volvo also have stopped selling estate models.
