Auto hold failure

Out of the blue (or red), a warning light came on my 70 plate MG5 stating Auto hold failure whilst driving. Didn't think any more as it didn't affect the drive until I slowed down below 5mph and then the handbrake initiated abruptly
I was in rush hour traffic so the last 10 mins were horrendous as it kept kicking in.
Got it booked in for checking in 8 days time, so no car at moment, but has anyone else experienced this, and more importantly is it covered by the warranty?

As the brake seems to be mechanically operating, just at the wrong time, it would suggest either a sensor, or a software glitch is the problem. I'd try disconnecting and reconnecting the 12V battery, which initiates a system reboot, to see if that will clear the problem.

If that doesn't clear it then have a look through the menus to see if auto-hold can be disengaged.

Unfortunately it did nothing to clear the problem, though now traction control and some other things are inactive. To make things worse, Drive MGs only diagnostic engineer went on sick, so pushed back ANOTHER week without the car. Seems on that a main dealer only trains one employee & unfortunately next nearest are 45 miles away...not driving that far with handbrake engaging
