Where on earth has the battery heating on/off setting gone from the app? I can't seem to find it.

For me it is still under Charging (EV Managment)/Charging Setting (Hexagon top right of screen)/Scheduled Battery Heating

If you have your car still connected to your now idle home wall box and you request preheating the cabin via the App ( say after conducting an overnight charge ) then as soon as you command the preheating feature, your wall box should reactivate and then attempt to back fill any energy consumed from the traction battery when heating the cabin.

That's interesting Lovemyev, over the last 2½ years with my 2022 SR, & Ohme Pro I have not been able to get that to work through the app.
It would have been very useful over the last few weeks!

We have one of the “old school” dumb Rolec wall boxes and therefore has no smart capabilities whatsoever.
The car is constantly set up to only receive a charge in off peak times as I have no intention to charge on the more expensive daily rate tarrif.
One morning last week, when it was -7 degrees here overnight in sunny N. Wales, I requested a defrost of the car via the App.
Of course the car was still plugged in from the night before.
When I selected the defrost function, I heard the contactors in wall boxes engage, then the home energy monitor shot right over into the red, so the car was definitely drawing power.
When I went outside, the defrost was still in progress and as I hit the unlock button on the fob in order to remove the charging cable, the wall box automatically returned to the standby condition.
Our car is an early 2022 model and it did receive a software update that would allow us to use the discharge cable when the car was powered down and locked.
Also before the update, if the car was charging from the wall box and you unlocked the car it did not release the cable !.
You had to enter the car and manually stop the charge, then go back outside and remove the cable quickly before it locked in again.
If your car is charging, can you interrupt / stop the charge and then remove the cable by just pressing the open button on the fob ?.

I think this was actually in an update back in 2022.

When we got our ZS EV it would only stop if we pressed the stop button ourselves, but i had it in to have the trailer hitch retrofitted (Was in backorder so we took delivery and had it mounted later)

I asked them, when i delivered it to them, if they would make sure it had the latest software, there was a bug that made the car brick itself at certain DC chargers so wanted to have it updated to prevent that.

When i got it back it did just as you describe.

If you unlock the car, the AC charging will stop and the plug would release. If you do not pull the plug in X seconds, it will relock and resume the charging.

ONLY happens with AC charging, not if supercharging at a DC charger. Most likely because if you stop the charge, the session might end and not restart without "paying again and going through the whole plug out, plug in and so on.

If you like the idea of using the discharge function say for camping etc, then this update allowed for discharge while the car is powered down and locked.
Prior to the update, discharge would only continue if the car was left in ready mode and remained unlocked.
Not really practical unless you are close by TBH.
The update was carried out by the lads at Chorley.

Mine is a mid-2022 reg and I can unlock the car and remove the plug. I also have the V2L capability which is handy. I'll have to charge tonight so in the morning when I set the MG app to turn on the cabin heating, I'll see if the car starts charging again.
I don't think it will somehow.
Do you activate any settings in the MG app? If I try to set cabin preconditioning in the Ohme app it states I need to set it in the car first, as per the attached. Thanks!

No I don’t touch anything in the settings of the MG App.
I just press the front window button on the screen and wait for it to report back that the preheating has commenced and will run for 15 minutes.
I am also able to see that the rear tail lights on the car are displaying red in colour when the reheating process is running.
Confirmation that the wall box has reengaged, can be seen in the figures reported on my home energy monitor and the green light charging status on the wall box, and the blue LED’s in the charging port.

Thanks got it. Tomorrow, my Ohme tells me my charging will finish at 0500 so will have to be awake early to try the cabin heating before the charge schedule ends.
