I feel that the problem has never really been fully been investigated and any improvements made to the original components.I was told that the door locks and steering racks were pretty much identical across all MG ZS shipped to the UK, so that would suggest it's not luck but more 'when' the parts are likely to fail. The rear seats as another example, if you fold them down and look at the mechanism it is really poorly made andI would also be surprised that most people would not eventually have them break like mine did, and In 12 months I must have only folded them down a few times.
Mine was the knocking noise which you could also 'feel' at times. They replaced whatever it was needed replacing...but then the replaced one had the same issue within about 4 weeks.
Therefore the parts are just replaced on a like for like basis.
All car manufacturers always have at least two suppliers of most components that they can call on, in the time of shortages.
If the parts replaced are coming from the same supplier as the items being removed, then it is very likely that the problem will return again.
It’s almost like a crap shoot if you get a good or bad item.
This issue is a well documented issue on the ZS by now and has been so since before 2019.
As the ZS in its present format, is likely to replaced early in 2025.
Then totally resolving this problem at this late stage in the model life cycle, is clearly not going to happen now.
It is more cost effect to just keep replacing the faulty parts, this will consume the remaining stock of spare parts.
Hopefully the same system does not transfer across to the new model ?.
