Bigger wheels, wider tyres, boy racer 4 life ?

Why do insurers want more premium for tinted windows? I can’t see how it changes the car In terms of risk, performance, value etc?
Because it's more expensive to replace the glass

Presume we are talking about aftermarket tints. If that's the case, then they aren't more expensive, as it's only film. Probably because they'll say it makes it look more attractive to a Tea Leaf. And anyway when have insurers, needed an excuse to charge you more. ??

It's still more expensive instead of replacing glass alone they have to replace the tint film.

Wrong again, if they have to effect a repair they have to reinstate it as it was prior to the incident. That's called indemnity.

It all depends on small print and they could easily refuse insurance payout altogether if the aftermarket additions / modifications are not declared on application. Of course, if declared and they accept to insure tinted car, they should pay for tinting as well.
