My Bluetooth is constantly disconnecting after a few days, so I went to my dealer and waited two months for them to look at my car in order to solve the issue.

When I picked up my car, they just handed me instructions on how to connect the ismart app. I asked if they updated my infotainment from R46 to the latest, but told me I had the latest update. I told them that there there are newer software updates available, but after having caught their lie, they just gave me a story regarding MG4's bluetooth not working with newer iPhones, and they don't know when it will be solved. He also told me that a new software update won't solve the issue, and that I would have to pay for it myself.

Thanks MG. Not to mention that I bought the car when it was advertised as having 4G and wifi update capability.

Alas, that's a typical response from a lot of MG dealers (Not all) but far too many.
Some of um, really don't give a shite. 🤬

Unfortunately it's a well known fault - see the Software Update thread.
I hoped that the latest software would fix it, so managed to get my dealer to install updates under warranty. I now have everything up to date except the T-Box software, and it still does it.
It seems to be random - mine has connected every time for about a week until today, when I had to re-pair it three times in one day!

Maybe you need them to prove that to you

When I first got the car I had an iPhone 11 and now I have a 16 Pro, the car is running R40 software and if anything the phone connection is more stable on the newer model.

I would suggest they are talking out of their < insert appropriate part of the anatomy >

I complained directly to MG. Today I received a phone call from my dealer, telling me that will give me the update after all 😂

Mine has now stopped working all together!
It connected every day without any pairing requests for a week up until last Thursday; then I had to pair 3 times in one day, and subsequently it refused to connect to anything since Friday.
When I set it to search now it doesn't see any bluetooth phones or tablets, whether Android or Apple; the only devices it finds are a couple of neighbours' TVs.
I'm not convinced it's a software fault, the symptoms could point to hardware. Either way, it's back to the dealer, I guess.

Have you deleted the car's Bluetooth history?

As I have said before, when my car declares it needs to pair with my phone again I ignore it and plug in to start Android Auto. It then pairs automatically using the previous credentials. It then continues connecting without AA for a few weeks. I just repeat as required.

When it happens, there is no Bluetooth history on the car! Every time it decides to send a new pairing request, mine "forgets" all previous connections, and shows no history.

However, I have got it working again, so won't be heading back to the dealer, for now at least. If it helps anyone else with this issue, this is the sequence of events I've experienced with Bluetooth pairing:

The car paired OK with my Android phone from new in September. The first re-pairing request came a few weeks later; thereafter it would need to be done every few days, and every time the car would recognise my phone (to issue the pairing request) but show "no pairing history".

Then it got to the point of the car frequently not connecting, but also not issuing pairing requests unless I set it to search for my phone.

Eventually I got the dealer to update the software under warranty to correct this and some other faults. FICM was brought up to MPU 1300r63 and MCU 68.4.7.0 but TBOX wasn't updated from SNAKP21E32.

After this, Bluetooth reverted to the original status where it would work for several days in a row, then issue a new pairing request and need to be paired again. As others have said, the phone will show lots of saved connections to the car, but the car shows no pairing history. All the old connections in the phone can safely be deleted, because none of them will work again when it is re-paired with the car.

A week or so ago Bluetooth stopped working with my phone altogether; there were no pairing requests, there was no pairing history, and when I set the car to search it couldn't "see" any BT devices except a couple of nearby TVs (I tried Android and Apple phones and tablets and it found none of them, and no nearby cars etc, just the two TVs)

I then tried doing a Factory Reset on the Infotainment module; this made no difference, so I decided a warranty visit would be necessary.

( NB - I don't recommend a Factory Reset, because you then have to re-do every setting you have ever changed in the car, including the satnav, radio, online music, wifi, iSmart, etc - I still haven't got everything back the way it was before)

Today, prior to contacting the dealer, I was looking for the BT MAC address in the Engineering menu, where I noticed an On-Off switch for Bluetooth. It was On, so I switched it Off. I then exited the Engineering menu, went to the normal Phone screen, where I switched Bluetooth back On. Lo and behold, it is fully operational again (for now, I'm not confident it will be a permanent fix).

So, if you have the same problem, try switching Bluetooth Off and On again!

I'm guessing that the BT On-Off switch is for the BT module in the TBOX, whereas the Factory Reset option is for the FICM only.

Recently I drove a Seat Ibiza (petrol) and oh what joy after the initial set up and pairing my phone Car Play app connected automatically via bluetooth. No need for cable from phone to car USB C port. Why on earth cant my MG4 Trophy do the same?

I'm currently in a courtesy car MG4 from the dealer and BT connects every time and I never manually paired it with this car :ROFLMAO:  I can't remember if this was after I plugged in to Android Auto - I think some kind of automatic pairing happens then? I've only plugged AA in once though, and BT continues to connect every time.
