You are misunderstanding what the word "pressure" is referring to.Hi Again Folks,
Perhaps and it's only a thought, Southern Hemisphere Black pipe, Northern Hemisphere Gold Pipe.??
As most transmission oil are O.E.P. oils (Oil extreme Pressure) it would make sense to have a more sensitive pressure relief valve in the hotter climates. Or it could be M.G. just cutting corners and saving a few pence?.
An "extreme pressure" oil relates to the pressure the oil is under whilst lubricating the meshing gear surfaces. This has nothing to do with air pressure inside a gearbox which will increase with temperature as the air expands. If left unchecked, this pressure can blow out the drive shaft oil seals so it is common to vent it via a breather.
