I was wrestling a large box into the front passenger seat and knocked off the rear view mirror. Thought it would just hop back into the ball but with too much force I broke the arm / mount. Not much to it behind the scenes, heard glass crunch. Not that sturdy IMO. Oh well.
Anyone had this happen before and and idea of cost to repair? Thanks!!

I would avoid anything too heavy duty as it may effect a windscreen replacement, I'd personally remove the arm, reconnect it to the arm then use something like 3M double sided foam adhesive like used for rear dash cams, go pro etc
Something that holds well but can be removed on the event of a windscreen replacement

From outside it appears there's a second layer of laminate bonded to the front windscreen and this is what sheared off. View attachment 32927
That makes it a bigger problem than it first appears. If you do go down the route of sticking it back onto the screen you'll have to use a double sided foam pad. Both contact surfaces must be clean and use a hair dryer to gently warm both surfaces.

Thanks. I'll have to see if I can get the arm out - it snags on the plastic surround, then clean out the shards of glass to get a good contact surface.....

I would use black mouldable putty called SUGRU, its saved my bacon on many an occasion and it's relatively cheap from many online sellers and it now says its a new improved formula. This might keep it safe/usable until you are able to sort it permanently.

AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Hint: it can't be both) ;)

No - my frustration is on the repeated use of New and Improved (not just by you). If something is New then it didn't exist to be Improved; if something is Improved then it previously existed so it can't be New. ;)

I'll attribute your lack of comprehension for your Angry reaction. :)

Taken from the new Sugru owner website, it was great before, just quoting the website. It may dry quicker or be stronger? Either way can't see a valid reason for your answer.

🤦‍♂️

I'm not (and wasn't) having a go at YOU (or the product itself) ... I was venting frustration at stupid marketing people who use that phrase. It is a logical fallacy as something can't be both. :)

Sorry please explain. I take it you have never used it. As I said I have used it on a number of occasions and sets rock hard in around 24hrs.
So on the event you need a new windscreen it's impossible without replacing the whole section at the top of the screen (mirror, camera, housing etc)
