Hey there!

I recently had a small rock chip my ZS EV (?) on the bonnet/hood of the car, and now I'm trying buy a touch-up pen online, but the colour codes are.. Very confusing to me. I have a red 2020 ZS EV, but online I'm seeing all kinds of different codes and colour names, and I'm afraid to get an imperfect match..

My papers just say "Colour: RED", so not any specific name. I feel like the colour code should be RSH or RSJ, but again, I want to be 100% sure.

Is there any place in the car or under the bonnet/hood where I can get the exact colour code?

Thanks in advance!!

It’s easy to find the correct colour code for your car.
Open the drivers door wide, you will find an indent sticker below the catch ( in the door recess ) .
The code is on that black / white coloured sticker.
I am 99% sure your car will be Dynamic red in colour and the paint coded will be RSJ but just double check !.

Hi guys, thanks for the swift replies! Appreciate that :)

I've just checked the door and my sticker appears to have "MG ZS EV" and the exact model written on it. See image below:

I am willing to make a safe bet, that your car is finished in Dynamic red.
Zooming in on your photo and looking at the paint shade, pretty much confirms that RSJ is the MG official paint code there.
I am not aware that MG offered the ZS EV in any other shade of red, other than the tri coat Dynamic red.
It was the most expensive colour option on offer in the U.K. anyway.

Hi Everyone, I know the above comments are a year ago, but I am trying to find the code for my "Brighton" Blue ZS EV 2022 (built). Dealership Parts said mine is St Moritz Blue, but my paperwork said Brighton Blue.
My problem is I cannot find the plate showing colour code. The only plate inside drivers door is similar the photo above of the Red car.
Any helpful comments please.

1. Thank you for not starting new thread on something that's already here ??

2. it would probably help if you post a photo of your sticker. mine is not blue so I guess not much help from me ... there are some companies online that can supposedly look up the shade from your registration number but since the info is conflicting, maybe better not rely on that ... worst case scenario is to order two tester (chip repair) bottles and check which one is yours ...
have you been to dealers and asked or checked one of their same coloured car against yours?

came across this if that helps:

Cars aimed for the UK market have the build details, displayed inside of the drivers side door shut.
If you open the door, the ident sticker is located below the lock striker.
The paint code can be seen here.
Cars made for different markets can be painted in the same paint shade, but can be named something completely different for that market.
This is why they issue the car with a paint code from the factory.
If paint is mixed correctly working to that manufactures code, it will be correct.
In the case of our U.K. car, it is finished in Battersea blue and the paint code is J5SO.

Thanks for your replies.
My Dealer Parts section says mine is St Moritz Blue, but all MG info says it is Brighton Blue, as does my Tax Invoice, (St Moritz is a UK colour).
The plate inside the door shows VIN No and tyre pressures etc, nothing about paint colour. Checked all doors and engine bay.
The Company on Gold Coast who mixes paint colours have different codes from different stores. Totally confusing.
I need to do some more digging.
Will update when I know more. It may help others.

I agree it can be confusing - my car was advertised as ‘Monument Silver’ but my V5 lists it as ‘Blade Silver’. No doubt they are exactly the same colour anyway! I bought a touch up pen using the colour code inside the drivers door.

It’s odd that they have the same OEM colour, but choose to name it differently for differing markets.
MG are not on their own when it comes to this, I do remember ordering a touch up for a blue Golf we had once.
When I went to collect it, the name on the box was completely different to the actual name of the colour that the car was sold with.
I thought that the guy had ordered the incorrect colour by mistake.
He put the part number of the paint into the computer and it brought up about four different names, for the paint on the desk.
He assured me that the OEM VW part number for my car was 100% correct.
But said that the paint was packaged for the German market, different name, same colour.
Maybe drop MG CS and ask them to clarify the body colour, but more importantly either the paint code or part number of the part from the VIN number.
I guess they will hold a record of the factory build sheet for your car

My 2022 EV had the rear hatch door replaced under warranty. The panel beater said there were 5 Chinese paint codes for "Sloan Silver". They had to use a spectrometer to determine the colour. They gave me a touch up bottle. You could get touch up from a panel beater that way
