Car battery drain and car dead after 3 months

Bought new MG4 XPower in october, in december the battery was dead i could not even get in the car, garage gave me a 'story' it was software and updated it. Now three months on it has happened again. Spoke to a guy who worked at MG and this is a known issue with a cable to the radio that drains the 12V battery. Anyone had similar issues and has the garage lied to you as well? i've been told MG know about this but won't admit it we have to live with the issue. I drive the car every day.

Not had mine that long but, if they say it's a known issue I'd call their bluff and tell them to fix it!

It might be worth checking if the radio is searching for a DAB station that is now out of range. See for example this post in the ZS EV forum:

Is this on Mk1 ZS? My 2022 Mk2 turns off the screen and infotainment completely off when you lock the car or within 10 min of turning the car off... I don't see how would we check the radio draining the 12 v battery unless connecting multimeter to the infotainment system ... ? How did they figure out it was your radio?

They didn't. The whole business was slightly woolly, which I'm sure won't satisfy some on here. That's why I was less than dogmatic.

It's a 2022, Mk2 Trophy LR, delivered in October 2022. All was fine with it, no problems with the 12V battery, or anything else...

It's poor that this problem exists, worse that they don't acknowledge it or know about it, but at least there is an easy work around for it.

Car will open still, physical key thankfully and bonnet manually opens too.

But in the OP, you said you spoke to someone at MG who said it was a known issue so I assumed you meant it was known to MG - in which case they need to fix it!

the problem is the guy works at alocal MG and he told me unofficially. the guy from the MG garage where i bought the car said its not true its just software fault. But it happened again three months later just as my friend said it would

One of the biggest positives of this forum has always been to provide knowledge and support for people who may only come on here because they are looking for help with a problem with their car.

Your constant sarcastic digs at anyone's first posts that are critical and mention faults and are looking for advice/help aren't helping and reflective of the positive support this forum gives new members.

wow, first of all im asking for help and have not criticised anyone. secondly never mentioned trolls at all, where has that come from?
the issue was diagnosed by two separate AA people and an Ex MG mechanic, both told me MG will not accept the issue.
having lived in china for 4 years, then shouting people down and labelling them is a way to stop identifying key issues, especially on the internet and forums.
i now assume you work for MG and this forum is not were i will get help, just labelled and attacked!

not shocked the latest reliability survey is where MG came bottom, if this is the reaction i have to trying to resolve an issue on a car that is five months old and has broken down twice and left me stranded.

PS i use my car for my job, and now im out of work, thank you for your attack, im sure it will help with my mental health issues!

This forum is a great place for help and support and the combined knowledge of the members on here will have an answer for just about every issue any person could have.
