Sounds like a bargaining ploy with the dealer....

I don't think getting mats with the car as the car on motability had to buy the charge cable to but luck someone from the great mg community told us about a code to get a discount and we saved about 60 pound the dealer wanted 180

There are some good options on eBay that are good value and of good quality.

I got these and they fitted fine.

Lucky you@Srp111, I paid MG package for £149, mats, mud guard and boot mat from dealer. Bought type 2 cable for £100 at eBay.

If you don't ask you don't get, though I had to buy my own mud guards, didn't know at the time there was such a thing !! Or would have asked for those too lol ?

No, I got mats, boot mat and a type 2 charging cable thrown in
That's good, not many got something. Maybe caught them at the end of sales quarter or reg change. When did you buy the car?

Got the car end of November from chorley group Burnley. Very happy with car and dealer

One thing to watch out for if you don’t use genuine MG ZS mats. In the drivers footwell the steering column is exposed and can the mat can get caught in the steering column joint.

If you use none genuine mats make sure the drivers one is secured so it does not slip forward and rub against the steering column joint.

I wasn't keen on carpet mats, so I ordered rubber ones from ebay as someone else here recommened them.
