I set the car (MG4 64kwh) to charge overnight to 80% from the incar settings. I have also checked the app is set to 80%. However the car charges to 100%. This has happened on 4 of the last 5 charges.
I have also noticed the app periodically resets itself to 100% and changes to default setting time period overwriting my inputs. I have emailed the ismart support team a couple of times but without any sort of response. I have now booked the car into the dealers.

Anyone else had similar problems or any other suggestions?

Exactly the same issue, and also contacted iSMART, as you did. Still awaiting a response.
Thought it was just me! I also waited 8 months for them to decide to replace the CCU so I could rapid charge!!!

I had similar problems after a software update. The range also seemed to be less than it should, down to 212ish miles instead of the 250ish before the update and not stopping at 80% charge. I wondered if they had applied the update for the SR instead of the LR battery.

Booked the car back into MG Stoneacre Derby who updated the FICM, CCU, BMS and the IMCU and now it works as it should.

Same place mine is going in. So I'll remind them of this. Thanks
By the way was it them who had applied your previous update? They did mine in May.
I dont know if its exactly the same fault as my displayed range isn't affected (showing 307miles at the moment) but sounds very similar

Yes it was. I suspect it's not the dealers fault as they can only download the MG's servers will allow.

What do yo think of them? I've found the service side can be a bit hit or miss.

Other than the recall for the software update they did this will be my first teal experience with them. I'll let you know after 23rd of September!

I too have had this problem intermittently since buying the car. A software update months ago fixed it but since I updated the app to the flashier new version the problem has returned. Eg I set the app to 80%. Double checked it. But car continued charging beyond 80%. When I checked the app in the morning it was still showing 80%. Harumph.
I reported it via the Feedback option in the app. Breath is not being held for a response.

When you set it to 80% are you saving it on the app and in the car or press the submit button on app I’ve never had any issues with mine

Sure….. Me too. The car was also ‘ignoring’ the onboard timer (as I have no timer on the wall box charger) A software fix got both issues sorted for me - now over 12 months ago - with no issues since!

Mine has started doing this, this week. Not sure if it's the app changing the % whenever I use it.

Still well overdue for software updates. Time to try for the nth time at the dealer...

I emailed MG about this problem on 10 June and received a reply on 4 July:
Quote
"We have identified the issue and fixed it. We will update a new MG iSMART App to the (Apple Store / Google Player).
We will let you know when we update the App.

ismart-service team"

I have not heard anymore from them since then.

The Android version of the app was last updated on 7th August, and I think the Apple version was around the same date. However the in-app checker never finds an update - you need to check via your device's app store.

I've never had this problem as I set mine to 80% when just around town and 100% for long journeys.
My range is always above 268 miles and on a couple of occasions, after a mixed road (motorway , A and B roads) long journey I have had a range of 320 miles when in eco mode.
I use eco mode on motorways and normal on all other roads as the regen appears to be stronger in normal mode. My brother has the identical vehicle (MG4 Trophy 64) and has experienced very similar results.
PS my brother had his CCU replaced at Eric Stead MG of Sheffield. They said it was a known issue on MK1 MG4 64kWh cars. They took only two days to replace it. One of the days was waiting for its delivery.

I need to book mine in also, I also use Stoneacre Derby.... mine has been like this since it went in for updates and work on Airbag Issue over Christmas.

I contact mg through the ISMART route on the app and got this remarkable reply from them-

“Dear customer,

Thanks for your email.

MG's vehicles are not capable of doing this feature right now. But we are working on it and may be able to realise this feature on a future vehicle.

Still thank you for your comments!

Thank you!

Best regards,

ismart-service team.”

Regardless to this cop out reply, my car is booked in to fix this issue.

The dealers have no access to and nothing to do with the iSmart app. None of the technicians typically drive MG EVs themselves. I confirmed with my dealer that only the sales staff knew anything about it.

All they can do is apply updates to the car in the hope that fixes something.
