Car Play connectivity

Hello. Just bought a 21 plate MG ZS EV.

Can’t figure out how to connect my iPhone for car play. Never had this before with cars I’ve hired or owned. Anyone got an idiots guide to this? Thought it was just a plug and play thing. I’ve tried both USB ports under the centre console and nothing. Annoyingly if I click on the on screen Android icon, it asks me to connect. Car Play simply doesn’t respond. Can’t see the car listed on the Car Play app on my phone either. (iPhone 11). Help!

I have this problem too but with Android auto.
I believe it’s down to the cable type. Must be charge + data rated and short-ish like 30cm. I have a n adaptor I haven’t yet tried and bought an Amazon basics cable which is a bit long at 1M but will let you know how I get on. There are also wireless adaptors which I hear work for some but I have an old Galaxy S9….using it with a Gen 1 (2020) ZS EV

This guy has a series of tutorials which I viewed as a new buyer. I found many excellent. The link is to a general MG/Car Play tutorial. There are also specific MG ZS ones also. Remember, he is in NZ so some specifications may vary.

Thanks for the help. Still nothing. Even with a new data cable. It’s almost as if car play is not responsive. Nothing happens if I tap on the logo on the screen. No prompt for connecting a cable or anything. Wondering if there is a software fault here?
