I thought I would add this to the forum as

Not sure if this is really relevant to this group but I had opened a ticket with Ohme and wasted a lot of their time and my own. We have an Ohme home pro charger and are on Octopus IO. The car is an MG ZS. Recently we’ve had problems with the car not charging to the correct percentage. This came about because of some other issues with the car which I’ve listed below so anyone having the same issue might want to check this. A school boy error I know but we’ve had the car for nearly 2 years and never realised what this dotted line on the SOC indicator meant.

This was my email to Ohme support.

So again, it only charged a few percent again last night. However, I think you were right and it’s the car that is stopping it from charging. What pointed us to this was that the battery was indicating it had only charged to 40% even though we had set it to add 42% so that it was 80% charged. We had noticed on the previous charge that it had charged to 40% and stopped at that point.

This morning, I took it to a local charger plugged it in and it started charging but almost immediately stopped. When I got back in the car, there was an indicator on the dash stating charge complete. I again went into the setting but couldn’t see anything that was set to 40%. When I looked at the SOC battery indicator, it was showing the charge at 40% but then I noticed there’s a small dotted line at this point, which is indicating where the charge has stopped. What I’ve never realised and we’ve had this car for nearly 2 years, is that if you put your finger on the dotted line, you can slide it along the battery to obviously stop it from charging beyond the desired percentage.

We’ve never changed this so I can only assume this started after the 12v battery had gone flat a couple of weeks ago. I had charged it up to get the car going again but after that, the radio and Apple Play had stopped working. After some research, a fix for this was to disconnect the negative battery terminal for 5 minutes and then reconnect it, which indeed did resolve the issue. I can only assume the SOC indicator had defaulted to 40% at this point as this is when we started to have issues with charging the car.

I don’t know whether you guys have crib sheets for common issues but if you have someone saying their MG ZS isn’t charging correctly, you might want to ask them where the dotted line on their SOC indicator is set to.

Hopefully this might help others wasting their own and everyone else’s time!

I did exactly the same yesterday while trying to impress my neighbour with my lack of knowledge. I also inadvertently turned the desired level of charge from 80% to 40%, so this morning checked charging time on my phone one any thing else I could mess up break or otherwise destroy. So thanks for posting your error as I would never have thought of that. I think hope pray that when I charge tonight all will be well.

Last night put on charge for 100% and it worked fine the only problem I have now is my scheduled charging time is from 12pm till 8 am not 7am so I only messed up a little bit. Once again thanks for posting your error saved a lot of time and loss of face.
