Hi,

I am the happy owner of an MG ZS EV.

But sadly, there is one kind of major problem: For about 50 % of the time when I try to charge my MG ZS EV, it fails. At most I’ll gain only 30-40 kilometers. Has anyone else experienced something similar? I’ve tried two different type 2 cables and two different Zaptec charging stations (32A 7,2kW). I’d appreciate any replies.

Best Regards Runar from Norway

Hi Runar, welcome to our forum,

Have you used your "Granny" charger" plugged Ito your main household supply?

I have a similar issue, home chargers working brilliant, however on my local ccs charger I am having issues charging. one day I might get a full charge from 10 or 20 % battery then I might go a whole week where the very same charger will not charge my vehicle. The charger will start, the app will say charging but the car will say connected, no charge and the obvious clicks from the battery are not present.
I know the other ev’s in the queue ahead of me are charging. Start stop the app multiple times and no joy, so leave the charger frustrated.
This has happened once on another suppliers charger but thankfully I wasn’t in the position of needing a full charge for the rest of the journey.

I presume you have the ZapMap App? Take a bit of time to study the locations...there may be more choices than you might think.

Hi, yeah there are more locations but I dare not risk the moths escaping my wallet as this is a free charge unit supplied via local council and hence it’s popularity.

I did but can’t open sunroof now because of them. But Genuinely, I do have solar panels but when I’m out and about ii would be nice to know that I could get a charge if needed (for free whilst they are still free) as I don’t home charge everyday and do quite some mileage delivering medications. I am not adverse to paying but do find it frustrating trying Unsuccessfully to charge for ten mins and then customer services unable to help.

I had a strange experience when charging yesterday. And similarly, I am a comparative newbie, and a non-techie!
I was driving home north to Inverness up the A9 from Kinross having had my software updates at Frasers of Falkirk. (I love the updates!)
I went to 2 ChargePlace Scotland E-volt points in Kingussie and Aviemore. Although I had only 30/40 miles range left, when I plugged in to the DC CCS Rapid charge, both times it told me that I had 93% battery capacity and closed down the charge. At Kingussie, I ever called the helpline and the operator connected the CCS remotely and it still failed.
I had previously had a successful charge to 83% on Rapid at Kinross, before this, and thankfully had a successful Rapid charge at Tomatin ( with only 14 miles range displayed!) after this!
Those of you who know the A9 will understand my anxiety as I would have been completelly stranded. At Aviemore, I did take on a wee top up with AC Type 2 Fast Charge but even though it says it's 43 Kwh, I only got 2.3 Kwh in about an hour!!
Any ideas? Has anyone else seen this?

on AC the MG will only charge at 7kw max, I have only Once seen mine charging anywhere near the official specs stated from MG.
